You're even more original, by taking something that Nas said and trying to run with it, dip .
A lot of what people call "hip hop" these days don't even qualify as hip hop IMO. Most of it is more like "pop" music now (Lil Wayne, T.I., Kanye, etc...) Some of it is still good music, but quite a bit of it is lame. There is still good hip hop out there. Some of it is harder to find because they get overshadowed by all the "pop" stars (Talib Kweli, Mos Def, etc...), or it goes over people's heads and is misinterpreted incorrectly (Eminem, Lupe Fiasco, etc...), or people hate on them because they aren't "underground" or "sold out" (Jay-Z, Nas, etc...) which is the douchiest bunch of bull I've ever heard as a reason to say "this rapper sucks". That last group of people can go themselves with a .12 gauge shotgun (and there is a load of them on this very forum). You dumbasses know who you are.
Jay-Z is most definitely one of the best. The Blueprint 3 is a nice piece of work that grows on you, just like the Black Album.
still a lot of good rappers out there.
Like someone mentioned, Nas, Talib, Mos Def, Lupe, Common. you gotta look but rap is alive an well
