Its been several years, but from what I can remember it is definately up there in the 9 to10 zone.
Man, I just watched that again, after a few years, it's so heavy. That movie in my books is a 10/10, and i don't give many. I'm not sure who won the oscar that year but ed norton puts one of the best performances i've ever seen on screen. I don't even think he got nominated-are you kidding? So good, and such a great movie in every way-you can't say one thing bad about that movie-or at least i can't. Just brilliant all around.

Awesome movie.
Great movie with one of the saddest endings I have ever seen.
I would love to man, but I already went thru all the schooling I can do, ha (4 years at The University of Arizona and then 3 years at San diego state for my masters). if I could go back to 20 I would for sure do film as a major-I love movies and know pretty much more than a guy should know about films. I know it's never to late but I don't have that flow to go back thru. But your right if I knew my passion younger I would have majored in film. IDK, movies can touch, inspire, and be great things in a persons life-I would love to make a movie (write, direct) that did inspire someone in their life. I do think they are that powerful sometimes. Cheers to observing that tho, I love movies, ha.
Pretty bad ass movies. One of my favorites, definitely.
"American History X curb-stomps every other movie" - timvp
never seen it...but it's on the list with malcolm x of movies i gotta see with x in the le...
its good because prison gang movies are the . thats a fact, we all love prison movies where a dude walks in like he owns the place, then gets raped in the ass by his friends
its good because there is a fat guy who carries around a glock, we can all relate to that
its good because eddie furlong and norton are amazing actors
it has an ultraviolent scene and furlong gets blown away for a fantastic ending
also 4 stars for using some of my favorite words in the way they should be used, "chickenhawk" and "heater"
i would slow with even mentioning it among the greats, the dad family scenes and the moms boyfriend part and the -i made friends with a black guy because he told me a joke part- is totally unbelievable, furlong was such a stupid that he could get into all that bull despite being 15 and from inner city LA, doubtful
also kind of ripped off apt pupil
its a good movie but i wouldnt consider buying on dvd because it doesnt have the rewatchability factor of other movies, say terminator 2 or rounders
If I were Roman I would rate it an X
9.5/10
Everything was great except for the basketball scenes, which were incredibly unrealistic and stupid.
Great movie. Hard to watch, though.
9 out of 10 I'd say.
Would've been interesting to see what would have happened after the ending.
Hilarious story:
My sop re year in college, we had a road trip for a soccer game. We always take a charter bus with dvd players and tv's. We would all bring movies so we would have stuff to watch for the long trips.
We are a division III school, so we often shared the bus with the women's team to save money. This particular trip, the women's coach brought his 13 year old daughter. So we are on our way and we are deciding what movie to watch.
My friend says: "Oh, I brought American History X, I was watching it last night, lets watch it" and everyone says cool. So coach puts the movie in and as soon as it starts it is automatically on the scene where the girl is getting plowed and screaming.
The women's coach freaks out and covers his daughter's eyes and he is frantically trying to shut the movie off. It is loud as too and the girl in the movie is just going off and everyone is cracking up. I guess my friend was only watching a certain part and it went to "the last memory" of the dvd or something. He was pretty embarrassed, our coach was pissed, the women's coach held a meeting and the girls soccer team was pretty cool about it.

The last memory of the DVD? Shenanigans.
its a good movie. But what's up with this:
He didn't like the final cut of the movie because Edward Norton demanded it be recut with extra scenes of him in there, or something like that.
Are you calling me a liar, sir?
never heard of that
did you click on the little "1" zosa?
Agreed. It was PAINFULLY obvious Ed, while making a pretty kick ass Nazi, couldn't play ball for .
That, and the scene where Lamont's "aight" was stuck on repeat.![]()
That's what I was thinking....I must have miss that leap in technology
