After Tony Romo and Jon Kitna worked a quarter each under center during the first half, McGee took every snap over the final 30 minutes. He was 4-of-9 passing for 34 yards, finishing with a long gain of 14. Oakland dominated the ball for much of the second half, limiting McGee's chances, but the former Texas A&M starter did engineer one sizeable drive, a nine-play, 53-yarder that stalled on an incompletion at the Oakland 3-yard line. Limited protection forced McGee to scramble to his right often.
Still, he and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett said they were pleased with his decision-making.
"I want to take shots when they're there and when I have time, and if not then I want to make good decisions with the ball," McGee said. "I'm not saying not to take a shot, I want to play aggressive, but if you have time to do that. You don't want to run around and force something."
