you might figure out, that the players from the all championship team comes from the top 4 teams. and that Teodosic was the best player from the finalist Serbia. tough call not to pick at least one player from this team. that's where Tony Parker's nomination went. no big deal.
Yup, they had to choose someone from Serbian and Greek teams and Teodosic and Spanoulis were the most logical picks, since they were their teams' best players. Unfortunately for Tony, they are both guards. Tony probably deserved to be among top 5 players.
but Rudy did not have that much of a good championship, Parker deserved to be their instead of him.
Then you'd have three point guards in ideal 5 of the championships.
Parker should have had a spot instead of Spanoulis I think. Teodosic was an automatic pick as he pretty much put Serbia on his back during the tournament.
What probably hurt Parker was that he didn't play in the final game, whereas Spanoulis was decisive in getting Greece in the top 4 and also had a good game for the bronze medal.
As for Rudy, I think he deserves it. In fact it is not coincidental that Spain really took of as a team in the second part of the decade once their wing players also started to emerge as stars along Gasol. I think Rudy clearely deserves it.

in the game for the bronze, Spanoulis played 36 minutes and his stats are horrible : 3pts (1/11 Fg's, 1/4 Ft's), 4rebs, 2as, 4 To's, 1 steal.

Saying that the only reason we won a medal was because losing to France is just ignorant. How about all the hard work and dedication, the games before and after that match, it is amazing to me how you discredit our wins against Slovenia and Turkey.
I don't think Greece got lucky, I would say France were unlucky to finish 1st and face Spain. But let's be honest, France kept TP on the bench for the entire 4th quarter, they tried to lose that game!
With your reasoning, Greece got unlucky to face Spain in the semifinals, have we beaten Russia --and you know Greeks are well over 60% at 3pt at the end of a close game-- we would have avoided Spain till the final.
With your reasoning, Turkey, Slovenia, and Serbia all got lucky b/c they too avoided Spain.

I think KBP said that Greek coach was pissed about Spanoulis making that long three because they wanted to lose the game. I think none of the two wanted to win that game.
Those were the stats from the game against Slovenia. But it's ok since against Spain Spanoulis sucked too.
I 'd France wouldn't mind to lose that game instead of tried, but I agree with your post, as Greece ended the tournament with 6W and 3L, they have done a pretty decent Euro.

2/ You said V-Span had a good game for the bronze against Slovenia, I just proved you wrong.
3/ If you want my opinion, Tony has had a bad game against Spain (6pts, 1reb, 3as, 3To), but he bounced back the game after against Turkey to qualify France to the World Championship (28pts, 4reb, 10as, 3To, 1st) which I appreciate from him.

But IMO, the most important, is that Spanoulis didnt bounce back, as his stat line against Slovenia shows us. That's a huge difference between the 2 players.
That said, reaching an 8-1 record, the best of the tournament, without getting any medal sucks. But that's sport. TP not being in the starting 5 of the tournament, that's funny, and not important at all.

If I remember correctly, Turkey only gave up in the final quarter. And a 28/4/10 is always impressive in a Euro tournament. Maybe his stats would have been less good against a Slovenian team playing for a medal, but I do think he would have had a good game if not impressive.

But I guess I could also say that Spanioulis simply choked, because he missed 3 of his last 4 free throws in the last minute if I'm not mistaken.
