I'm liberal (on most things) and I don't believe it. This isn't something to blame Obama for (but based on his actions so far he might be receiving blame shortly) in particular, this is something to blame the entire democratic party for. Illegal immigration gets them votes, so they pretend that it's not a huge problem in this country. One thing that disgusts me about being a democrat. Arizona has several congressman who only have their job because of a Hispanic name.
But of course they'll be able to get healthcare. Just like they're able to suck the teet of all other government services such as public schooling.
The Baucus bill adressed that. However, both parties killed it. People with wealth have an interest in Illegal Immigration. Both parties have an interest in that wealth

Well, then after YEARS or DECADES of footing the bill and citizen groups exposing them one bright sunny morning the N.Y. Times will write an article about the amount of money we spend on illegals, and the political class will pretend it's the first they heard of it.AND the...and then....and then they'll pass yet another amnesty.
Right now we have amnesty, we have a de facto amnesty in America right now eveybody knows it.Right now it's almost impossible to get deported you have to be a real dumb .You can live here as long as you like, and if you want to stay all you have to do is get some chick pregnant, or wander across the border and drop your kid here and viola your an american.

In europe more and more nations are tightening up on this policy, for instance in Ireland if your born in Ireland at least one of your parents has to have been born in Ireland as well for you to claim citizenship.It's a war on the middle class, and the republics.

Actually, no. Saying Illegals can receive emergency care and buy health insurance isnt the same as receiving government subsidized health insurance.
But more importantly, youre not arguing that illegals wont receive health care, so why is Obama?
Again, why is Obama opening himself up to this? This reminds me of the Brady Bill back in 93. Dems didnt realize how much its gonna hurt them down the road. When we find out that Illegals are, in fact, receiving subsidies, its gonna be OPEN SEASON on the left.
I can picture the ad now: Obama saying in his address to Congress that illegals wont be covered, followed by the stat of the number of illegals currently covered. Can you imagine if its as high as one million?
If Gino is right and illegals do start receiving health care paid for by American tax dollars, one can only hope there is some sort of back lash. As someone who voted for him, I'm just getting sick and tired of this "You don't have to worry about doing what's best for yourself at all, the government is gonna solve all of your problems" message Obama keeps sending. Issues like abortion, global warming, the war in Iraq, business regulating and stem cell research aren't gonna keep people like me liberal for very long at this rate.
Imprisoning 1 illegal employer, is much cheaper than prosecuting, convicting and deporting countless undo ented workers and the crime they commit per employer. You can throw in the costs of the border wall and protection services along the border. They won't be here if they can't make a living. They have been leaving recently due to poor economic conditions.
Heck. I'd run for office and fix this if it wasn't for the fact that people are so ignorant of everything nowadays. I'd rather just keep to myself.

So having illegals pay nothing for higher cost subsidized health care in ERs is better than their paying something for lower cost subsidized health care outside of ERs.

You agree that Illegals will be able to purchase subsidized insurance. Youre just arguing that its better than what we have now.
So why is Obama stating that Illegals wont be covered? And why isnt he worried about whats going to happen to his popularity when the scenario you described above comes to fruition?

For the record, I think illegals should be put on probation and be made to pay a HEAVY fine (3k per person etc) and in a couple years, be granted citizenship.
My point is that Obama is making a huge political mistake. Do you disagree? Or better yet, is Obama clueless of the bill he's pitching OR is he lying when he says that illegals wont be covered when he knows that, in actuality, they probably will be?

Absolutely. Why shouldnt they? In fact, after paying the fine and entering "probationary period", I think they should be allowed to receive social security benefits etc. But like all legal immigrants, they will be required to PAY TAXES.
Why is that funny? Of course when the government says its going to perform "major health care reform" with proposals ranging from taxing health plans (A John McCain idea) to a public option (the left's idea), people who have a job and have health care are worried they will lose it.
Personally, Im not against health reform. Im not afraid of losing my health care. I do believe, however, that Obama is leading like a chicken with his head cut off. This health care debate is a mess and its certainly not all the republican's fault.
