the LA Lakers have all the money, glamour, prestige, ability to draw big names/any players they want, favorable officiating year after year, history, name brand recognition, from one of the biggest cities in the world, the most talented player in the world, league cooperation and collusion, ....
and yet they are still locked in a mortal dead heat with a largely obscure tiny market franchise, led by 'uncool' unintersting stars, from a boring no-name smallish town on a team thats been around less than half as long.
all things considered.....what an embarassing position for the Annointed Ones hahhahahahaha the spurs sould be nothing more than squished bug residue on the soles of your boots yet we stand eye to eye as your equals despite starting with an ENORMOUS disadvantage in every concievable way

being a good franchise means being consistent. We've had 2 losing seasons in the past 50 years. How many have u had? 15 les,best winning percentage of any franchise,most playoff wins,most finals appearances. Stop trying to act like your cool. plus i love how the spurs simply 'tanked' to get Duncan...despite the fact that all their 'plotting' left them with a 1 in 13 chance at the top pick that year ...seriously if they were purposely tanking they could have just made it so they won 5 games or something. but please keep grasping at straws

the point is, its terribly easy to have winning seasons when you are a huge market, glamorous, name-brand product like the Lakers. just ask manchester united or the new york yankees.
put the spurs players of the last 2 decades in the purple and gold uniforms and they would have 10 or so les since 1995 along with endless media adoration.
its EASY when you are in the Laker's position. when you are in san antonio's position it is a pipe dream. yet despite their respctive positions and the heavily stacked odds the spurs have managed to make it a contest over the last full decade.

bro, have you heard of the clippers and knicks? Those two franchises are in huge markets and you don't see the same consistency as you see with the lakers
the clippers dont count as they are the neglected stepchild in the same city as the league's Annointed Ones, and the Knicks have been hijacked by severely a re ed GM and owner for the last long time and are an anomaly. they have had many good years but ultimately have reflected and been represen ive of the city's blue-collar working class roots rather than its modern uppity side.
the Lakers meanwhile come from the city synonymous with glitz, glamour, empty hallow materialism and fame. the commisioner has stated in plain fact that they are the most profitable and ideal team to advance of any in its league.

favorable crucial calls, often in last-second game changing plays, or entire key games have resulted the Lakers advancing in many series where any other team would likely not have.
if Manu were wearing purple and gold in '06, or if it had been Kobe and the Lakers instead his ticky tack foul on Dirk would NEVER have been called and they would have advanced. if it were Bowen and the spurs taking the '.04' shot, it would have been waived off. if it had been been a spur leaping ONTO kobe during a last-second 3 poit attempt in '08, it would have been called a 3-shot foul. if it had been the spurs losing in game6 vs the Kings in '02, they would have simply lost the series. the list goes on and on
