We closed that book last year when we won #15.
We closed that book last year when we won #15.
I see ST has a new bag Laker fan. Welcome aboard.
You closed the book on being able to win it all. All the questions on toughness, hunger, etc you closed the book on.
I want a Celtics/Lakers rematch because there is a feeling of unfinished business. Celts will be seeing a Lakers team that will be nothing like the one they faced in 2008. They won't have the matchup advantages they once had and the Lakers have a player (Artest) that is more than capable of making Paul Pierce's life miserable.
This is not only a chance at revenge for 2008, but also a chance to be the team to shut the Celts window for good. I know Laker fans just want to win the championship regardless of who they play, but I am sure some would love the chance to be the team to end the era of this Celtics team.
i'm pretty sure they're all just one person with too much time.
Kobe would have not won it all in 2009 without Pau Gasol. Look at your Lakers before the Gasol trade, they were compe ive some nights, others not so much. Took the Suns to a game 7 1 year, after the Gasol trade they have dominated the Western conference. If Gasol went down with an injury that would effect your teams le prospects, Gasol is the silent MVP of the Lakers.
Regardless of who I think is better (and it's Jordan by a mile), this argument makes no sense. Kobe was no more dependent off Gasol in 2009 than MJ was off Pippen for any of his 6 les. As good as MJ was, he still needed a player as good as Pippen next to him. Can't fault Kobe for needing Gasol.
kobe is not jordan but he is the closest we will ever get
This is about as lame a comment as it gets. There is no doubt Gasol was an important piece in the Laker championship... but how quickly you forget all the bashing he took only one year earlier for being so soft and costing the Lakers the championship against the Celts.
Are you forgetting Fisher, Farmar, and Brown replacing Smush Parker, Aron McKie, and Shammond Williams at PG? Removing the defensive turnsile Radmonivitch? Bringing in Ariza for Maurice Evans and Brian Cook?
Then to go on and say if a top 3 player on a team going down would impact le hopes as if it is some kind of news that any moron couldnt figure out is pure comedy.

No way this is a serious poster.
I want LA vs Bos.
Talk that the team would lose motivation? Please. No way in Phil or Kobe lets that happen. Their record speaks for itself.
, the root of the Shaq and Kobe issues is because after Bling 1 Shaq got lazy and Kobe got hungrier.
The Celtics present the lone lethal contender for the Lakers. Everybody else is manageable and can be prepared for with stout confidence by the Laker organization.
Kobe's instigation of verbal hostilities with Allen (Seattle days)/Garnett (Minnesota days) fuels the Celtic's roster. It's not for public dissemination...just meted out in public humiliation in the '08 Finals. This is on Bryant. He targeted whilst in the safety of the triple & Daddy and now he's the target. They're intimating him to intimidate Gasol and the others. It's sound strategy.
Our '09 Championship means nothing in the eyes of Boston. Only Houston was competent in our path to the point of their injuries. Everybody else was compromised before we ever got to them.
& I genuinely hope you're right, Clev.
Because if I'm right,,,I don't believe we can get there.
my weather prognostication for LA: the Spurs will make it rain.

Let's hope for the sake of all that is decent that doesn't happen. I'd hate for such a great sport to be soiled by more purple and gold gotry.
i expect the best post season since i started watching the NBA this season.
This team isnt the 2008 team anymore. We dont have a James Posey off the bench. Pierce won't get the luxary of facing Walton/Vlad anymore. He will have to deal with a guy who has the body built to make Pierce's life in Artest. The Gasol with testicles is going to give Boston trouble. I am a Celts fan and even I know the matchup advantage is in the Lakers favor now.
As wierd as this may sound, I agree with you. The Celts were on kickass winning streaks playing at a high level. Then both streaks were snapped at the hands of the Lakers. It wasn't just the streaks being snapped that made it evident, it was how the Celts played after those games. They slumped. They wanted to win both of those regular season matchups pretty bad. I usually don't say regular season games mean much, but seeing how both teams really wanted to win both of these games, that changed my mind.
Too bad you won't be there!![]()
tlong at it again
man you laker fans dont even think you will have compi ion? major compe ion? your freaking delusional!!!! im a major spurs fan and i realize the lakers are a threat, but if you think the spurs and mavs and portland are going to lay down your very wrong and if its not us im very positive its not going to be the lakers winning the le, most people say boston if both teams are healthy, and for you laker fans who want to meet boston in the finals your really delusional because the lakers do not match up well against them even this year!!! i just want u fans to promise you will be attending this thread after a spurs laker game win or lose
It's not far-fetched to say the Lakers will win the le again this year. The reality is the Lakers are supposed to win, everybody else is a contender.
The Lakers, being the last champs, are "supposed" to win, tThere are 5-6 contenders who have a shot at it.
Of course, things don't always work out as planned but Phil has a good history of defending his rings...if I'm not mistaken, he's never failed to 3-peat.
