I bought my house in 2004 brand spankin new, and it is falling apart (shifted 5.75") and am looking to roll some heads. I cannot find out who built the damn house so I can send their ass a certified letter saying "Fix it or I will you up!!!"

I have checked my paperwork and contacted my insurance company and neither have the builders information. Is there somewhere that I forgot to look or something?

The city keeps a record of building permits. The builder will be listed.

If its new you should have at least a 10 year warranty. Do you not have warranty info? The bank who did your financing will know...they sent him/her the money.

I already asked my lender and they said that they didn't know either and it should be on my paperwork. I read through ALL of my paperwork at least 20 times and I cannot find it.

Go back with the copy or your contract and ask them to show you who exactly collected the money they sent out. Pretty basic .

He would only have a warranty if the builder participated in a HOW program and he bought a warranty.

Most if not all lenders require a 10 year warranty.

Hopefully this guy kept the box his house came in.

Maybe if you name the city/county inspectors in a lawsuit and maybe more truth will come out?

I don't know if that would work. No experience in such matters, but they put their name on the work!

if it's in a neighborhood, maybe your neighbors know what builder or builders built the neighborhood.

Well, there is a good chance the lumber has a Canadian label of some sort stamped on it.

    Good luck.

If it's more than a mom and pop builder, then I expect them to keep you in court for years.

BTW, I have a homeowner who calls weekly about the noises the water heater/sump pump/duct work make when turned on thinking they're flaws in the house.

    Makes Baby Jesus cry.
