It's going to be pretty bad,'' Martin said of NBA games. "The replacement refs, there's no way they're used to the pace of the game. ... The guys, except the rookies, they know the guys [in the NBA]. They know how to call the game if I'm playing, if Chauncey [Billups, a Denver guard] is playing, if [Allen Iverson, a Memphis guard] is playing. They know because we've been around.
"They know how we can talk to certain refs. Certain guys know me. I don't mean no harm sometimes. I might get out of line sometimes. But, for the most part, I get a little leeway. But with the [replacement officials], I don't have that leeway. ... You know how you can approach certain refs, what you can say to certain refs."

They ask the questions, he just answers them. Reporters keep sticking mics in his face hoping for a Kmart quotable, and he keeps giving them. Cant blame either of them.
I agree with pretty much everything he says. I'm pretty sure these new refs are going to suck ass.
Well if he knows that he has no leeway, then adjust. Just like he had to learn to deal with the refs when he came into the league or dealing with a new teammate.
However, I agree the refs will suck, but people like K-Mart will use it as an excuse to act the fool.

I believe it's going to be NBDL refs... I think it will be just fine.
Sucks for the old refs though, they all just lost their very high paying jobs...up to $400,000 a year for some of the vets.

Sounds to me like he's whining about not getting preferential treatment from the new refs.
He is right about the new refs being terrible. None of the old refs would go back, even the hired referee agent has dropped out of the negotiation.
Kmart just guarenteed himself a badly called game with the replacement refs. Way to screw your own team over K-K-Kenyon.

Why do people keep asking him questions he gives stupid answers to.
I think having new refs may be both good AND bad. Good because we wont have the usual refs giving the "superstars" all the calls, and bad because maybe they wont know how to ref every little thing the right way. So who knows, we'll just have to wait and see how they do.
