I think I'd have to put Songs for the Deaf as their best album, though I love them all (and though my favorite song is on Lullabies to Paralyze). Grohl on drums = infinite win.
And you didn't ask me the second question, but I know someone who has Rated X.
all rated r vinyl's are called rated x.
it's only limited edition insofar as they didn't make any of them. You won't find Rated R vinyl's because they don't exist.
I found one on ebay for like 20 bucks because the seller didn't know what he was selling. They normally go for over 40.
Oh well I didnt know that. SO you have one and got it for 20?? I would have to say the self led out of print album is the best.
Rated R is my favorite because it's the most "out there" in terms of sound.
I actually found a self led CD a few years ago at a Best Buy and snatched it up. Hard as to find.
I heard they are going to remaster and re-release it. I am going to pick that up on vinyl for sure. Rated R is my second fav and SFTD is my 3rd.
Hey train... wanna meet up before the show and have a couple beers?
I'll be with a couple of my friends, so don't try any of that hands down my pants stuff.
I'm off to Austin to pick up my tickets. Hopefully Waterloo is still open around 7:45 when I get there.
Tonight is gonna kick sooo much ass
I hope the place burns down.
It was perfect.
It was
It was just amazing
Did they perform all new material? Anything from QOTSA or Grohl's stuff? HOw long was the set?
It was all new material. Set started at 9 and was probably 13 songs at 4-5 minutes a pop + time in between to talk to audience.
I would have been disappointed if they had played any covers from their old bands.
well, this along with a good friend of mine raving about the show last night pretty much secures my attendance to catch them @ ACL. won't be as intimate as stubb's but hopefully I can get a glimpse of what they are all about.
they played less than 90 mins? how much did you pay?
I payed a bit over 55. I would have paid 100.
It's not like they have multiple releases to play from.
I didnt pay as much as you with the presale but I would have paid 100 as well.
I get that it was a good show and all, but paying 100 bucks to catch one act, a new one at that, is ludacris.
i was just curious. most bands like to play a short set and charge out the ass. better value than a hip hop show that starts at 1:30 AM and, oh, damn, it's 2 and we're closed tho, haha.
Well there was no opening band and I am sure they played all of their material. was good too.
Hey Jman, Josh walked right by me in the crowd when I was getting a beer. Grohl had already passed me.
New band yes I suppose but not really. Everyone knows who Dave Grohl, John Paul Jones, and Josh Homme are.
If your a rock n roll fan that is.
For not even putting out a record yet they sold out in 10 mins from what I heard.
Sure evey rock fan is familiar with those names, everyone knows the guys from Chickenfoot too and I wouldn't blow 100 bucks to see them either.
and the 10 minute thing is what I had initally heard too, only to find out that there were still tickets on the Stubbs website days later. apprently a bunch of orders were cancelled because people were trying to buy a bunch at a time to scalp when the limit was supposed to be two.
I wouldn't have paid $100.
