It was one game, yes. But his whole career shows he's not a fluke. The guys for real. I was thinking the GM's were kicking themselves last night when I saw Blair playing and slapping Scola.![]()
Some highly-educated, Ph.D.-level people are going to lose their jobs because of Blair. I hope he's happy. Home wrecker!!!
Blair already causing grief .. a successful end to Day 1 of his campaign for payback vs those who doubted him during the draft.. and the regular season hasn't even begun. I hope he NEVER loses that chip on his shoulder...![]()
Its fun going to google and do a search for "Blair 19 rebounds" and see all the message boards lit up with people freaking out.![]()
hahahah hey guys last night i had floor seats and i got to speak to r.c buford, i told him he did a great job this summer and he smiled and gave me a thumbs up !!! man the spurs did it again, and everybody is freaking out!! i dont think blake griffin will be grabbing 19 rebounds any time soon!!!hahahah
You should have taken advantage and tried to break his thumbs for keeping Finley

Been it wasn't RC's choice to keep finley. You should have broken finleys thumbs for exercising his contract.
from Vick the brick on draft day; it makes me sick to my stomach to see SAS getting better like that.

I think it's just one of those things though. The Spurs are the type of organization that could afford the risk of drafting him because if he didn't work out, they'd still be ok. But especially for teams that were in the lottery, it would be a much harder thing to deal with if injury concerns manifested.
But then again, there were still teams in the bottom of the first round and earlier in the second round that probably should have taken the gamble.
Well, I'm glad they didn't.
But I agree, another thing could be that those teams never expected Blair to still be there and already had specific players in mind.
He's an athletic freak, a 7 foot 3 athletic freak. High risk/High reward for the Griz.
I'm a big believer in the notion that preseason numbers are frequently useless. And I don't know what to make of Pop's choice to temper expectations about this kid. But what seems apparent to this point about DeJuan Blair is that he rebounds the basketball effectively from the time he wakes up unti he puts his head on the pillow. If he does that at even a 5-6 rebound per game rate during this coming season, he will make a big difference to this team.

Talk about making a first impression....
The League forums are paying notice
I admire the depth of your post.
He's surpassed Odens production over an entire career in just one night![]()
Oh snaps!!!
And who is Donyell Marshall, I'm going blank. Also, I'm going to google that myself.![]()
A reserve forward for the 76ers, played with Cleveland when the Spurs kicked their asses in 07. Good 3-point shooter, role-player off the bench, seems like a decent enough guy from what I've read about him.
I'll take 5 or 6 rebounds from a 37th pick every night.
