Russia's president congratulated Obama on Saturday for the surprising honor, and even Cold War foe Fidel Castro said he was happy for him.
But Republican National Committee head Michael Steele is bristling with outrage, saying in a letter that Obama won the prize "for awesomeness."
It shows "how meaningless a once honorable and respected award has become," he wrote, asking for contributions of $25 to $1,000 for the RNC ...
He didn't do anything (except for speak and make promises) to win the medal. Especially not in his first 12 days in office! While the Europeans love him, and he has given a better image to the United States. However, choosing Obama, doesn't really change who Americans are at their core. So, I don't see why Americans were hated during the Bush era but are now liked during the Obama era. I know me and the people I know are still the same they were. Seems foolish to me. Also, the economy in the United States is still really bad. Unemployment is still a huge problem. I think the people who actually did something (besides promising to do something) are pretty pissed right now.

Comes news this morning that our beloved President has at last won the Nobel Peace Prize. We can all be glad that the Nobel committee overcame the stark racism that denied Obama the Nobel Prize for Literature for Dreams from My Father and The Audacity of Hope. I suspect that racism has also been behind the denial of the Nobel Prizes for Economics, Physics, Chemistry, and Medicine to Obama, whose accomplishments in those fields very nearly equal what he has accomplished so far in the Presidency. We can only hope that we make contact with extraterrestrials before Obama leaves the White House, so that other worlds will be able to join ours in giving Obama the honors he so obviously deserves.
