Blair is just showing the whole repertoire..ridiculous..

Nice to see that Hairston racked up 5 assists..his passing is one of his main flaws..he had a very good all-around stat line for the amount of minutes..

Ian's numbers look good as well IMO..he's gotten better every game so far..the shot blocking potential should be enough to keep him on the roster..Ratliff is the only other non-Duncan player on this team that can provide that, and he's a risk with the age/injuries..no way Ian doesn't make the 15 IMO, unless that little amount of $ is actually such an issue..
    Thanks for the assurances, HH.

I'm starting to feel better for his chances, too.

Why wouldn't they televise this game? I counted at least 800 people there.

DeJuan Blair: Blair looks great against scrubs

DeJuan Blair had 28 points, four boards, four assists and two steals on 11-of-13 shooting against the Heat on Sunday.

Both teams were resting most of their starters, but Blair has had an impressive preseason nonetheless. If Tim Duncan goes down in your league, pick up Blair immediately. And yes, he can also be drafted in the last round or so of your draft.

Some thoughts, by way of the dial...

Sounded like Hill played well and outplayed Chalmers, for the most part, when matched up. And I was glad to hear Malik and DeJuan's passing ability was on display; they do have some intelligence playing the game to go along with their man-ness.

Ian got better as the game went along but Anthony seemed to be more of a presence early on. It was nice that Ian was able to adjust to how the game was being called and avoid his fourth foul until the middle of the fourth, IIRC, after picking up three quick ones in the first half, though.

I liked that they came out with Williams and Hill in the backcourt to start the second half. They really need to do more of that to really get a gauge on how effective that pairing could be; that's if they're still as high on him as I've been lead to believe. Sounded like the offense ran pretty well during their time on the court, in that the ball seemed to be getting to the right spots, unfortunately, their seemed to be a good amount of miscues with some of the bigs that could have lead to some easy buckets. -- Marcus does seem to have a knack for setting up Ian, but Mahinmi happened to be one of the culprits for miscues against the Heat. --

Apparently Bogans doesn't only look like Billups physically, he shoots free-throws like him as well. I had no idea he was shooting over 90% last year; go figure..

And too bad that Blair fella' is devoid of any skill; at least that's what I've read quite a few times on this here board.

Seriously, though, the kid's just so refreshing to watch, listen to, and hear from after the game. He busts his ass before, during, and in his off-day's between games; he's a willing student and an absolutely driven ball player; and contrary to most players that thrive in a blue-collar/dirty-work-type role, players that usually do it because their livelihood or NBA career depends on it, he brings a level of talent and skill that truly makes him a special player.

I think you're going to find that Blair, while he does need offensive and defensive development, is a lot closer than most have lead on; a little polish and refinement could go a long way.

My favorite thing about Blair is his 'want-to' and because of that trait, given good health, I know he'll become a solid offensive player; one that won't be thought of as devoid of skill.

Nice to get a result like this with the young fella's leading the way.

How'd Blair get all those points and only 4 rebounds. Is he gonna be a shooter for us as well?

He did comment that he was disappointed in the 4 rebounds after the game; commenting that the Heat happened to be making too many shots.

    Pop was funny too.

San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich quickly pointed out that DeJuan Blair only had one defensive rebound Sunday night.

“Not good enough,” Popovich said, barely keeping a straight face.

So far, Blair is showing the Spurs—and probably the rest of the NBA—that he’s certainly good enough.

The rookie scored 28 points on 11 of 13 shooting, 15 of those points coming in the final 7 minutes, and the Spurs erased an 11-point deficit entering the fourth quarter to beat the Miami Heat 95-93 in a preseason game.

“He’s a real mobile, agile player, even though he’s got the girth that he has,” Popovich said of the 6-foot-7, 265-pound Blair, who’s noticably slimmer than he was playing college ball at Pittsburgh. “It’s a heck of a gift.”

Ian's money for this season is guaranteed, so they wouldn't save any money by cutting him from the roster. It's next year's option that they have to decide on by October 31.

As Blair got dressed after the game, guard Keith Bogans was at the next locker, having a sandwich and some Doritos. Blair lamented that neither of those are among his culinary choices these days, as he tries to slim further down.
Since Blair is on a diet, he better be careful with Tex-Mex food.
