question, if I get LP Broadband for $89 and am able to connect my pc to my big screen TV. There really is no reason to get the tv league pass right? quality is the same?
$160 is a pretty good deal. If you get the LPB for $89 you will only get to follow 7 teams of your choice. The quality is pretty good. But with regular LP, you get to watch every game that is not televised locally or nationally.
You can definitely hook up your PC to your tv. If you only care about watching the Spurs, then getting the broadband is the way to go. It is the cheapest and the quality is pretty good.
How much is seven for just online? And if I had only seven to pick I'd prob pick SA, Utah, Orlando, Portland, Chicago, GS, and Idk who else. Maybe Detroit? I don't think I like seven teams.

I do that every time, its very easy to connect your PC to your TV, get a
cable that's called S-video (most PCs and TVs from 2000 to know have that jack) its probably $15 to $20 dollars, you could find it in radioshack or any similar store
They should have a cheaper package, where you only follow 1 team.

LP Broadband now has a "5 Team Choice" for $89. I will get this since like you, I only watch the Spurs.
I don't see how $160 is expensive. That is actually less than they have charged in the past. Who would actually be against paying less than a dollar per day to have any NBA game you want to watch available to you?
$160 is probably pre-season price, after season starts, it has jumped to $180.
I see no such thing? Is it only available in the US? I only get to choose between standard and HD options. Now 79.95 (89.95 later) and 139.95 (149.95). They should implement a "one team" option
Frustrated last year by the too high number of black-out games. I live in Hawaii, it's not like I'm waffling between watching a Spurs/Lakers game on my desktop and heading to the Forum, 2500 miles away; why block me from viewing the game online?

Yeah...that's what it did last year. It's best to get in early to save the money but even at $180 it's still a decent deal for anyone that is a hardcore basketball fan and will watch a lot of games. I know I will.
They will also sell a discount package about halfway through the season for those that just want to watch the stretch run. It will probably be 80-90 bucks.

Obviously neither does the NBA. There are a lot of us out there to whom $160 IS a lot of money. Looks like I'm going to miss out again. Every time I plan to buy LP they bump the price way up. I had planned to cancel cable to be able to afford LPB, so if they aren't going to show nationally televised games, plus all the Mavs games are blacked out in my area, I'm not going to bother with it. I'll just get DirecTV about the time the playoffs start.

I was checking it out earlier. I have LP BB last season and sometimes you would get the home team's feed on tv and the visitor's feed on the BB stream. You could also log in with your PS3 web browser, zoom in, and it'll look like a normal tv broadcast. Now, I don't agree with the price jacking. If it was $99 again, I would get it. Might as well get the DirecTV package. It was very few Spurs broadcast feeds during the first 3/4 of the season.
For those wondering about a 1 team option, it will be one, but it's on a team by team basis. The only team that I know that will be testing this out is Portland. (They have a messed up local tv contract there)
For those who had LP BB last year, make sure you log into nba.com to see if your subscription will auto-renew. Mine had reoccurring subscription with no way to cancel it.
The LP on TV is actually cheaper this year. It was like $179 last year. I just ordered mine and it will let me pay it out in 4 monthly installments of $42. I don't know many people who do not blow 40+ bucks a month on garbage. I know I do. Long story short, if someone really wanted to watch the games they could come up with the cash. And for the record...I have two car notes and a house note that I am paying, so I am far from being able to just drop the cash without blinking.
From my experience in previous years, most of the Mavs home games get blacked out because they are on FOXSW. There is also a local Dallas channel that shows Mavs games, but I can't remember the name of it.
Damn, I wish the 7-team $96 option had an easy payment plan like the $146 option, then I would go for the 7-team option for sure. But since I have an extremely limited income, $32.46 a month x5 is actually easier on me financially, especially since I'll be driving into SA twice in the next two weeks, once tomo for the Spurs-Cavs game, and again for Dia de los Muertos.
And I was talking to my aunt on the phone, and she said to look out for hidden fees. Are there any, besides tax (how hard would it be to put the price after tax up, and calculate it so it ends up all pretty, ex: 399, 350, etc)?
Oh and someone should invent a crazy equation for how many games I'll get if choose the Spurs (82), Magic (79), Trailblazers (74), Lakers (70), Celtics (66), Jazz (64), and Cavs (60). Give or take a few games, I'll get 495 games from them alone. There is a of a lot of overlap, but nowhere near the level of following all the teams. Every single game you'd be paying for both teams. I would only have to do that for when 2 of my 7 play each other.
Damn, a slightly easier payment plan is not valuable enough for me to pay 50 bucks extra. Like people have said, I'll only really follow the Spurs. I'll keep tabs on Portland, Utah, and Magic because I like those teams/players. With LAL, Boston, and the Cavs, I'll just be scoping the compe ion. Hopefully Ron Artest blows up the Lake Show, Rasheed sets a career high on techs and fouling, and Shaq proves to be slow to get his big ass out of Lebron's way, causing "The One" to throw a tantrum, respectively.

Problem is, it's not 40 dollars a month for me, it's 40 dollars a month plus the price of cable that I didn't cancel.
Not that I really care that much about the Mavericks, but it sucks that the NBA just assumes that I can afford cable or that I want to buy tickets to AAC so they black out any local game. Until they get those overlapping media contracts fixed, they're going to have a hard time selling it to me. When they finally do work it all out so you can see every game, it'll probably be 500 dollars. The NBA probably figured that most hardcore fans will find a way to justify any cost to see their teams, and won't lower the price to lure casual fans in. While I'm not a casual fan, I'll force myself to do without or sit in the car listening to Bill Schoening like I've been doing for damn near 20 years now.
MF, my seven teams would include a team from each division to ensure as few overlapping games as possible, and then try to decide from there. I'd probably pick San Antonio, Denver, Miami, Cleveland, Boston and the Clippers and then either Utah or Portland as the seventh just to get a few extra western conference games.
Do you have cable now? If so, it is a sunk cost. You can afford the cable you have now (because you have it) + the 40.00 you spend on misc. (drinking? going out?...). Just replace that.
Or, just get the 7 team package for 89.00. It is the cheapest option (2 payments of 45.00). Or cancel your cable and you can easily afford the LPB 7 team option. If you want to watch a nationally televised game, just go to a friends place or go to a bar.
If you know anyone else that wants LP close to you, you can split it. One of you purchases LP for 169.00, then one gets the LPB and one gets to watch on tv. Cuts the cost in half and you get all of the games on LPB, not just the 7 team option.
Now THAT is not a bad idea. I'd pay the seven team option price to get all the games, especially if I could screw the NBA at the same time.
