The balloon was flying ~35mph across country. Unless you're driving well over the speed limit, it would be practically impossible to keep up with it, and that's assuming you have a head start.
those parents are some air-heads.

He fell out after it had already been in the air awhile? I was under the impression he fell out just as it was taking off.
That IS pretty sad.
It looks that way...if he had fallen out while taking off, I'm sure they would have notified the police that he was safe???
