As far as colonization goes, I'm pretty sure the US has the most amount of military bases outside it's territories in the entire world. I mean, it's not even close.
And as far as world war goes, if I'm not mistaken, and I'm sure you will correct me if I'm wrong, the US was one of the parties involved in the arms race known as the Cold War, which among other things involved pretty much complete eradication of human life (unlike WWI and WWII) should it ever actually started.

Also funny is that people think Arafat won it for patronizing terrorism (as he did when he was younger) when, in fact, he shared it with the Israeli leadership for trying to effect a cease-fire between Palestine and Israel.

Well hindsight is 20/20, but what the Oslo accords did do was set the stage for legislation for peace by having the PLO accept Israel's right to exist and Israel accept that the PLO was a sovereign en y. It was a first step, but many on both sides proved they weren't ready to take that step.
