    he was bawling in private.

i thought he showed some real restraint.

too bad he didn't invest. he could have sued his wimpy partners.
Yet another thing he addressed today. He's not interested in suing anyone -- even though he's being pressed to do so.

So, when did you observe him, in private, bawling, throwing a tantrum, or blubbering?

Please tell. I wasn't aware we had someone in here with a personal connection to celebrity.

Should they give EXISTING NFL owners polygraph tests?

Why restrict this to the NFL? I know Mark Cuban has some interesting political views.
Cuban was denied a chance to buy the Cubs. He's an ass, too. Besides, the NFL never stepped in. The only thing I saw was a quote by Goodell that owners have standards of conduct, and variances aren't tolerated. He never stopped this, the partners gave him the boot.

And the partners explained it well. In short, the criticism wrong, but hurt their chances.

I wonder what would happen if Jesse Jackson put in a bid on a NASCAR team.

The owners never voted. It was Sharpton and Franken strong arming goodell. They should have let the owners voted.
Sounds like the others in the potential ownership group voted. they didn't want to take the chance with the vote of the other owners.

    Same difference.

    Everyone would laugh at him.

Personally I would be absolutely against it.

Let's face it; Rush is a divisive figure. He certainly doesn't refrain from making his opinions well known on the airways and in the media, so it's certainly fair game for Sharpton and others to do the same on the other side of the fence.

As well, if Limbaugh hadn't gotten fired for an issue involving race and media relations, he might have sailed through... perhaps.

It's a good thing that Rush was prevented from becoming an investor in an NFL franchise. Can you imagine the horror of being a multi-millionaire player (slave) on Rush's NFL team (plantation)?

I thought Limbaughs partners told him he was out.
That's right. Dave Checketts threw him overboard for being a distraction.

I think they got some nudging from certain NFL owners. We know for a fact that Jim Irsay, owner of the Colts, said he wouldn't vote for Rush. Commissioner Goodell also expressed some fairly clear reservations about bombast being blustered by an NFL owner. And frankly, I suspect the calculus changed for some owners after news of the Limbaugh bid became public, as players, friends, and sponsors expressed concerns about Limbaugh's involvement in the league. Even if the Checketts group had gotten some degree of preliminary assurance that Rush's presence wouldn't be a problem, it seems likely to me that owners may have been dissuaded from that position by input from trusted others (and not necessarily Jackson or Sharpton).

So libel is legal if you're in the public eye? Since when?

"I mean, let's face it, we didn't have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: Slavery built the South. I'm not saying we should bring it back. I'm just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark."

"The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies."

These are the quotes that are lies. Both the Huffington post and Rick Sanchez have retracted them.

Public figures do have a higher standard by which they must prove defamation than the average person. However, if Rush is claiming that people are distorting his words with actual malice, he might still have cause to sue. Probably wouldn't win though.

By the way, why is Keith Olbermann allowed to host Football Night in America?
Because he hasn't said anything about the media looking for a "Great White Hope" or something comparable on the program. He's kept politics/race out of FNIA and if Rush had done that on NFL Game Day, he might have stayed with ESPN longer.
