lol benjarvus
One of the Mav fans (Findawg or Mono) came up with 4 rings got.
I thought it was Benjarvus who said that to one of us every time he was losing an argument.
Somebody introduced it to him and he just ran it into the ground. That's why you hardly see it anymore. That and people crying to Kori about it![]()
Minn Lakers 5
LA Lakers 10
Lakers organization 15
As for the stupid possesion of a ring argument.... lets get another take on it.
Question: Does Mike K have the right to say "We won a gold medal" in the Olympics although he didn't?
Coach K coached an olympic gold medal team. Correct me if I'm wrong but no one on this forum has coached a Laker championship team.
But correct me if I'm wrong; nor does anyone with a valid influence on the board to discredit the Lakers' 15 les...it says it in the NBA annuals and everyone but a portion of the posters on here acknowledge the 15, so it is fact not fiction.
What are you saying? I'm not discrediting their 15 championships at all.
Sorry, I what I meant was how can one determine the 5 won in Minneapolis is strictly for the Minneapolis part of the Lakers' history and not to be included with the 10 won in LA. I kinda rushed the thought as I'm trying to multi-task and as you can see, it isn't working.
DUNCAN is just echoing the head start that select Media started after the Lakers rang for the 15th time. >They< suspect dynasty and want to separate the MN. & CA. en ies to preserve the Boston mark. Phil didn't help when he whipped out that >X< cap in the locker room after the Lakers triumphed.
It's low, but, for some, the idea of the Lakers passing the Celtics is untenable.
OK now I know what you mean. Here's what I'm saying, various Laker fans on this site have said les are won for the people of the city and the fans, in which case those 5 were won for the people of Minneapolis. If those 5 were won by the "Lakers organization" and moved to LA with the team, then the fans had nothing to do with it then, and have nothing to do with it now.
I've argued with LA fans on this site about the Minneapolis thing before they won it last year, and Phil Jackson is one of my favorite people in all of professional sports. Him winning #10 doesn't bother me at all, the man if anything is underrated and deserves every one of them.
Go back in the stacks and get your arguments from before the Lakers rang for the 15th time.
That wasnt the point. We keep hearing ther question "do you have a ring?" as if that validates someone saying "we" won a championship. There are hundreds of rings given out to Laker faithfull by the Laker organization that were not part of the FO, coaching staff, or players. The organization felt their support, either financially or morally contributed to the success of the team.
Of couse Mike K. can say "we won the gold" even though he doesnt have a medal. Just as I can say we won the gold because the team was representing us as americans. Along that same line, I can say we won the championship last year as the team was representiing me, a long time season seat holder, member of the community, and Laker fan.
Cubby, idk where you get this idea the Lakers 15th le has turned me into a Laker hater as if I wasn't before. I hated the Lakers just as much before they won #15, and will hate them just as much as I do now when they get #16. Ask any LA fan on this site.
Fair enough, so I concede the 10 championships won in LA, but by the logic just stated, the 5 championships won in Minneapolis stay in Minneapolis with the people of the city. The Minneapolis Lakers represented the people of Minneapolis/Minnesota.
I see what you mean and inevitably, fans are going to believe that they've contributed to their franchise of choice' success. I would make it a point that if you're going to honor the whole of said franchise, at least pay homage to what came before in the past. Know who George Mikan and John Kundla was before claiming the 5. For me, its Minneapolis/L.A. and there is enough to share.
I never quibbled about your Lakers hatred.
Your playing coy about your allegiance to the Suns, yes, you were less than forthcoming when I first landed here, but, now that the season has arrived your making your peace with O & 41 and coming out.
The point is that a fan of the Zombie Sonics shouldn't claim the Sonics 1979 le. A Sacramento Kings fan shouldn't claim the 1952 Rochester Royals les. LA Lakers fans shouldn't claim the 5 Minneapolis les. Of course the Lakers franchise has 15 les.
I don't know what the you're talking about. I'm not "making peace" with "0 & 41", one thing I know I've never posted was anything to try to excuse the Suns for being the oldest team without a championship. It pisses me off just as much as any other Phoenix fan.
It's an argument that will never be resolved. The Laker organization owns 15 les. It doesnt matter that they were in 2 or 15 different cities. As for me personally i only supported the last 10. There are kids that have only been alive for this last one. They as Laker fans will say "we" have 15. It's semantics. Nothing more.
So then Thunder fans should say we have one ring, correct?
So what if you are 70 years old. Lived and breathed Laker basketball the whole time. Through all 15 les in Minn anf LA, yet you live in some other city throughout the world. You are not allowed to claim a single le? Hmmmmmm
Don't start gettin' defensive. I hate when you get like this.
Fact is when I landed here more than a handful of posters questioned just wtf was your team, DUNCAN. I was one, but, since I was the new kid on the block I kept my trap shut and let that part of your personna in peace. But, once you've started to publicly declare your allegiance once more for the Suns I felt it appropriate to cite your declaration and fully bust yer snut.
Now, go have some f'in Bosco and cookies and calm the fk down, youngster.
If you were 70 years old I'd tell you to get your old prune ass off the internet and go watch wheel of fortune.
