What was with Mike and Joe giving out their twitter accounts during the fight? Seriously the ufc needs to dump goldy. hes terrible..

Swick has a better resume than Fitch. Who has fitch beat besides alves in 2006 and a split over diego.. none of these guys are worthy to face GSP. no ways johnson gets run through any worse than fitch and alves did.
My point is he needs to fight some of these guys. You have to earn that le shot in most cases and he hasn't done that yet. All the guys you are naming you think he obviously beats, well lets see him do it first.. at 170 there is GSP and there's everyone else, so start fighting everyone else..

This is not taking anything away from GSP, but there are some fighters when evenly matched, they tend to fold, GSP is one of those fighters.
How is GSP one of those fighters? Because he got tapped out by Hughes when he was way too young to be getting a le shot and because he was KO'd by Serra. Everyone has bad nights in MMA, he bounced back from those losses and has dominated everyone since. GSP IMO is one of the most mentally strong fighters in MMA.. Nobody works harder than him

So far people consider him to be dominate, but let's be real, he's just flat out better than everyone in his weight class. Bigger, stronger, faster, you name it.
He's also way more skilled than anyone, with great game-plans. GSP doesn't just outmuscle people, he out-techniques them, out works them and grinds them into dust..

Johnson is the type of fighter that hits harder, has faster hands, and is tough to take down. I think this would be a great fight.
Hits harder, faster hands, tough to take down. I don't know who this guy has fought that would lead anyone to feel this way about him at all. Get in there and beat down Alves, Kos, Fitch, Swick and we'll talk about Rumble..

Nah we're here i got ya..

Shogun won the fight with all those body and leg kicks.

They seem to love Goldie for whatever reason. Usually he's not bad except when he tries to be funny..

He performed exactly how I thought he should perform if he wants a le shot. He manhandled Rothwell, and the decision would have been his easily when the match was stopped. Unless Rothwell scored a knock-out running on steam then there was no chance for him to win.

    Now back on topic

Watching the fight over doesn't help anything, no way is that a unanimous decision either. Split, if anything, and you gotta credit Rua for being on the attack and still looking mildly fresh at the end. It's so crappy that Rua will have to go through another camp to fight a match he's already won, I doubt Lyoto will lose a rematch but now everyone knows he's not invincible...which is exactly what I said in my predictions. Thank you, thank thank, thank you, ya'll are far too kind.

Not to beat a dead horse, but here's the reaction from inside the arena...

I hope Lyoto didn't take the boos too hard, cuz he's gotta be prepared for a re-match where everyone is cheering Shogun and booing him. Sad to see two good guys get tangled up in controversy, but maybe lakaluva is right and Shogun will go in for the kill next time.

  12. #137
The fear factor that kept him from finishing Lyota in the fourth is now gone. He'll by energized by knowing he got robbed and knowing how easy that fight was for him. Look for both fighters to be more aggressive in the next fight, and a more dominate fight by Rua.
Thinking about it this morning, i still don't know what to make of Machida's performance. I was shocked at his inabilty to make adjustments during the fight. Shogun landed that lead kick to his legs and body over and over and over, he never was able to stop it.. Would be an interesting rematch..

I hate when the crowd boos the fighter for a decision he had nothing to do with..

Those boos put to rest this whole "UFC is against Brazilian fighters crap." I think coming into the fight, most people wanted to see Lyota win the fight, but judging from the crowd, it seems people in the States just like to see a good, fairly judged fight.
dude.. shogun and machida are both brazilian..

I agree although im not sure if i would call it fear. I mean on same level it is fear but when youre winning the fight there is no reason to rush in and go for the kill esp. with Lyoto's fighting style. I think he was just being cautious. I hope hes more comfortable next time and gets the KO.

I don't know who takes the rematch, we'll see what adjustments Machida makes, it will be intersting..

He performed exactly how I thought he should perform if he wants a le shot
He's earned it if you ask me, he is clearly the number 1 contender after the Carwin/Brock fight..

I had Shogun winning rounds 1,2, and 5. What a joke!

Throughout the fight I said some pretty unladylike things because I thought Machida was losing. When he was awarded the decision over Shogun I said many, many more unladylike things, but not for the same reason. As a fan of the champion you want him to win, but you don't want him to "win" a decision without really winning the fight. It leaves a pretty bad taste in your mouth.

Struve was impressive, wasn't he? Rumble looked great also, but he's too big to fight in that class; he needs to make the jump to 185. Velasquez/Rothwell ended the way everybody thought it would, but it was tainted by the early stoppage.

Machida was a definate round 3. round 1 and 2 were still up in the air for me. Could have gone either way and Shogun did well but I think it was a case of not being aggressive enough.
