Darius Washington seemed to be on his way to landing himself a spot into Spurs in 2007 when he emerged from the Austin Toros. He had very good games with us when called up by the Spurs. He now plays in Europe but why didnt the Spurs keep him or tried to bring him back.? No offense to George Hill

He simply wasn't an NBA player. He had a few good games where he overachieved during training camp and that was indeed the highest ceiling he would ever reach as a player. He was probably looking down at his ceiling to be honest.

Darius Washngton had serious flaws with his game. He's not a great ballhandler, which is a problem when you play point guard. He's also not that great a shooter. Pop gave him a shot, but it didn't work out. He's not an NBA-level talent.

The best thing I remember about him is when he hit a halfcourt shot to end a quarter.

QFT, had some quality games which gave this forum a lot of false hope... eventually began to look seriously over matched. Goes to show why Spur fan are so excited this offseason!!

D-Wash, J White vs. Blair, Hill and even Hairston

Our young talent finally looks the goods

Washington bought himself a waiving when in a game at GS he penetrated and tried to do a monster dunk in traffic and bricked it hard. That was it for him.

didn't he have a triple double?
    18 pts
    9 rebs
    8 assists

    In this preseason game:

Although Darius didn't last long, he did provide a service to the Spurs. His preseason exploits earned him a roster spot and allowed the Spurs to trade Beno before the regular season started.

He got waived because he sucked. He was promising in preseason but did jack in season. The only thing he did in the regular season was almost make an athletic dunk from just inside the free throw line in traffic. But he missed. He faded fast during the season.

He was the little version of that guy who hit all those threes in summer league last year. Neither of them are NBA players.

Darius had much potential to play in the NBA, it just didnt work out. He played in Russia last season, this summer he played summer league with Memphis but no luck. Then he played with the Macedonian national basketball team some games in Macedonia and he went to Eurobasket 2009 with the team since he got Macedonian citizenship. I met him over there. After Eurobasket he was signed by Galatasaray basketball club from Istanbul, Turkey and he plays very well over there.

I hope to see him in the NBA again. He is a good player and has the qualities.

Darius Washington is a case study in why fans should take preseason stats with a grain of salt.
