Texans' Johnson suffers chest injury vs. 49ers

Texans receiver Andre Johnson left Sunday’s 24-21 victory over San Francisco with a chest injury but should be ready to play in the next game at Buffalo.
Johnson, who was injured in the fourth quarter, was taken to the hospital for X-rays before returning to Reliant Stadium to shower and dress after the Texans’ second consecutive victory.
“They’re telling me it’s a chest contusion,” coach Gary Kubiak said.
Kubiak will have an update on Johnson at his regular Monday afternoon news conference.
Johnson was injured when he caught a 44-yard pass on what proved to be the winning field goal drive. He fell on the ball, coughed up some blood and went to the sideline.
Johnson returned briefly, but when he tried to return a second time, some members of the team’s medical staff hid his helmet to keep him on the sideline rather than risk further injury.
Johnson’s catch down the middle gave the Texans the ball at San Francisco’s 41-yard line. Kris Brown finished the drive with a 50-yard field goal.

Nice win by the Texans. Sorry about Johnson, he's one of my fave receivers. Schaub is solid and your D is probably good enough to get you guys to the playoffs. Also impressed with your tight end. Good luck the rest of the year.
I'm really up in the air about San Fran. They're starting to look like a Jekyll & Hyde team. Who the was that guy out there with Smith on the back of his uniform?! Gore looked rusty, but the niners got another good performance from VDavis. Too inconsistent, and with the improvement of Arizona I'm not feeling so great about a playoff run for SF anymore.
Like I said, nice win, and the Cowboys!
Thats been us the last few years and this year is no exception. We have played really well when trailing and us having a lead was unknown to us and we didnt know how to handle it. Crabtree is going to be good. Smith looked good lets see if he doesnt fall back to his normal self.
Remaining Schedule for Texans this year
Nov 1 @ Bills
Nov 8 @ Colts
Nov 23 vs ans
Nov 29 vs Colts
Dec 6 @ Jacksonville
Dec 13 vs Seattle
Dec 20 @ Rams
Dec 27 @ Miami
Jan 3 vs Patriots
5 out of the 9 we SHOULD win. Bills, ans, Jax, Seattle, and Rams. If we could steal one from either the Colts and the Dolphin game we might sneak into playoffs. OR if we need one game that Pats game might be within reach having it being late in the season and they might not play all of the starters.
The schedule is really in favor of them getting into the wild card chase. The games against the Colts are the toughest on the schedule. They always play the Dolphins pretty hard and beat them last year when they were playing very well. If they go 6-3 the final 9 I will be ecstatic.

That's ing funny.
Your's isnt too shabby either...haha. I'm all man, honey!
Yeah but we play the colts hard too and should have beat them both times last year, I hope we can come out firing against them.
I think 9-7 is prob where its going to be and more than likely 1 or 2 games away from the wild card.
For some reason, I worry about the Bills. They quietly have a damn good Defense. I think weather may be a factor, but I think it can be a trap game, hopefully not.
Gotta take care of the crappy teams like Buffalo and Jacksonville.
Those games against Jacksonville and Arizona they let slip through their fingers hopefully don't haunt them the rest of the year.
This is my big worry. They really had an advantage with a soft early schedule but they screwed the pooch yet again. 6-3 is gonna be tough to do...and that is what they will need to get into the post season.
I can't believe how close they were to being 6-1 as opposed to 4-3. I really do worry about them sucking during the games they should be winning.
niners didn't take this game seriously, they are a better team than they showed. Texans with another lucky win giving their so called fans false hope, lol
Looking forward to another couple of easy wins for the Colts when we smash you all pretty handidly
Actually I wouldn't be surprised.
This is how I predict the games against the Colts going. The Texans come out flat, go down by 24, come out in the second half playing well. Getting to within 7 and then ing it up and losing by 10-14pts.
Johnson day-to-day with lung contusion
http://www.houstontexans.com/news/St...?story_id=5734
Coach Gary Kubiakannounced Monday at his weekly press conference that wide receiver Andre Johnson
could return to the field this week against the Buffalo Bills after suffering a serious injury against the San Francisco 49ers.
"He has a lung contusion," Kubiak said. "(Team doctors) feel good about it. They feel like he's going to be fine. I think, obviously, he's going to be day-to-day as we go into this week. They'll do some tests on him each day as we go through this week, but I think we're fortunate here and hopefully he'll be ready to go against Buffalo. But he'll be day-to-day."
Johnson suffered the injury after being hit in his lower back on his first catch of the game, an 18-yard reception with 13:36 left before halftime.
Throughout the remainder of the game, Johnson had difficulty catching his breath. In the fourth quarter, Johnson left the game briefly before returning to the field.
Eventually, a member of the Texans hid Johnson's helmet to avoid him re-entering the game and jeopardizing his health for the sake of the team.
"Well, that's him," Kubiak said of Johnson. "He wants to do whatever he can do to help this team win, and yesterday was a struggle getting him the ball. He had two plays that were both big plays. But Andre will give you everything he's got, and you all know that. He knows this team needed a couple more plays to win and he was willing to go make them."
Johnson will undergo tests each day this week to monitor his blood work and help determine his status for Week 8 at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
With 38 catches for 634 yards (16.7 avg.) and four touchdowns this season, Johnson ranks first in the NFL in receiving yardage and is tied for first with four catches of 40 yards or more. The three-time Pro Bowler is coming off his best season as a pro, when he led the NFL in catches (115) and receiving yards (1,575) in 2008.
Johnson on his twitter today said he was feeling much better.
I assume they have mondays and tuesdays off then get back to work wednesday?
Or do they do day off monday film session tuesday then practice wednesday? Just curious.
I believe they have film sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays off and back to work Wednesday. I could be wrong though.
