Ok so Dallas has had some nasty weather lately and it was real bad this morning. So i was driving to work this morning and i usually take North Dallas Tollway but I was at the opposite end of the George Bush so I took i35 to work. It was raining heavily and Im in the far right hand lane. All of a sudden I lose complete control of my car and my IS spins out off the road, luckily there was room off to the side and i didnt hit the saftey rail. has this happened to anyone? what do you do? it seemed almost unavoidable. I thought I would have good traction. I just put '18s on and BRAND NEW low pros.. and the handling has been alot better.

Hold the wheel straight and let off the accelerator until your tires find the road again. Do NOT hit the brakes.

    Oh yeah...and slow down.

Pray. Ask for forgiveness for following the wrong team.

Someone was trying to tell you that it's a new season, and life is too short to watch the Mavericks.

You do know when you are driving that fast, you are not driving on the road right? You are driving on the water. Your tires aren't touching the road. Just passing along some knowledge gained from expierence.

    Twice

First time 17 years old driving my girlfriends '69 SS 427 Camaro. L60's semi racing slicks on the back. Center lane on I-10 heading north from 410. Light rain. Hit a puddle and the ass end started coming around. Never touched the brake. Rode it through the full 360 going straight down the road and blipped the gas and counter steered as it came around straight. Ass end squiggled and tucked and we were back in business. Acted like that happened every day.

About 10 years later. Going west on Hwy 90. 3/4 ton truck. Crossing the Nueces River bridge. Raining. Driving too fast. Truck was loaded down and ass heavy. Hit a fat puddle and ass end started coming around. Fat pig. Not a Camaro. Never touched the brake but was back/forth counter steering through the full rotations trying to keep it somewhat straight down the road. Two full 360's and still spinning when I cleared the guard rail and started off onto the muddy shoulder backwards still going about 30...slowed to about 20, racked the wheel hard left and punched it, went hard right lock...spun to a semi stop sideways reversing the spin and slid the front end to the right (back was in deeper mud) got a grip with the left rear tire on the gravel and fishtailed back on the pavement still going about 10mph. That one was too ing close.

Once when I was 18...I slammed on the brakes and hit a car. I was going about 50 in a 30.

Funny in not so serious accidents...you get pissed off more than scared. Not to mention all the things you could have done to avoid the accident. Like did i really need to be out here...i could have stayed home...or man if i just left home like 5 min later..

No he wouldn't. It's one thing to speed, and it's another to do it when the road is wet. If anything the nicer your ride is the LESS likely you'd be to do something like that when it's raining.

I think what you meant to say was:

you would too if you had my hooptie.

And you wonder WHY you hydroplaned? Please turn in the drivers license you apparently obtained from that box of Cracker Jacks. Or place a "You're following and Idiot, please beware" sign on the back of your auto.

Narrow tires are more aquaplaning-proof so new '18 might be part of a problem.

    LOL

What can I say? When I was single I liked fast cars and practiced crazy like that. I would do forward Rockford turns and forward double Rockford turns...(180's and 560's where when you came out of it you were facing back in the direction you were coming from still going backwards with the tires smoking)...I didn't see any point in owning hot cars and not driving the out of them.
