It's too bad that the Mavs fall back into the same old traps. They had maybe four plays going toward the basket in the last fifteen minutes of the game, and the first one by someone other than Marion was with a minute left when the game was no longer in doubt. They play pretty good defense, they hustle and they've got talent, but when you're shooting jumpers and the other team's shooting layups, you'd better be hoping for touch fouls, a good shooting night, or the other team to miss gimmes and free throws.
Dirk's finally defending near the basket with his height (going for blocks instead of strips), Gooden looks like he's going to be a good fit, and they should be better when Josh comes back, but they had playoff success last year hitting wide open jumpers that a bad defensive team gave them. That's not a formula for success, even with the great shooters that Dallas has on the squad.
All we have left to know now is if Findog got laid...

Hey, I wish I could tell you what happened, but I have virtually no insights into this game whatsoever. I saw on the Jumbotron at one point that Dirk had 34 points. My attention was elsewhere. On the plus side, she was impressed that I was able to score tickets to Section 326, like I'm some high roller. On the down side, I didn't watch it. I will never take a date to a playoff game. I learned that much tonight.
