There's a better chance of Manu screwing up his ankle again and Timmy being "banged up" again. Spurs fans are ing themselves over their team in November. I thought you guys were smarter than that.
Please, son. The Spurs played almost half the season without Manu. Let's not pretend he skipped out the day before the playoffs started. Besides, the Mavs beat a well-stocked Spurs team in the playoffs before.
Let's not get into this round and round bull again. There's no point to it.

You forget Rapper
whats hilarious is spurfans grouping the spurs in the same category as teams like the celtics, lakers, and magic, and ahead of the Mavs, despite the fact that the Mavs dominated them last year in the playoffs. each team added a very good player (jefferson and marion), and a good role player (mcdyess and gooden).
if the mavs cant get mentioned with elite, then the spurs shouldnt be either
figures though. these are spurfans we are debating with. 3rd most illogical fanbase in the nba (only behind rockets and suns fans)
And they're counting on guys that are fragile as China (Manu) and other guys that have more than once recently not made it to April at 100% (Timmy). A big part of grouping them in with the elite is their recent championship past.
must hurt to watch your favorite sports shows and not even a mention of the mavs?![]()
Good post.![]()
No, it's hilarious the benefit of the doubt the Spurs are getting. No rational Mavs fan expects anything more than the second round with this roster.
comparing mcdyess to gooden
and forgeting the addition of ginobili
Really? You included Blair in the group?![]()
they always get the benefit when duncan is around but when he's gone![]()
Typical kneejerk reaction thread from a member of SpursTalk.
First game of the season. BFD. Last I checked, the Mavs beat the Spurs last year with a weaker lineup.
you are correct, spurs had a much weaker lineup with Manu out
The Spurs are getting the benefit of the doubt 'cause they got the third seed last season with a much less talented team than this year. Then they lost to the Mavs but that has more to do with Manu and Tim's injuries and matchup problems.
The Mavs are the ones getting unjustified benefit of the doubt, they're getting elite status from a lot of people and they are IMO clearly a first round playoffs team.
99% of the people would agree that Lakers, Nuggetts and Spurs are better than Dallas, most of the them would also agree that the Blazers are better too (with that alone you already have the first 4 seeds) and I think that the Jazz and Hornets are also better teams than the Mavs, that's why IMO the Mavericks are a mediocre team (which doesn't mean bad, it means average or middle of the pack).
The Blazers? The team that won 4 more regular-season games than the Mavs last year, advanced one round less than Dallas and got swept by the Mavs? They're better than Dallas?
IMO yes they are.
Dallas > Blazers because of the experience mostly.
a series betwen them would be 6,7 games though
Where was Mavs experience when they got eliminated by the Hornets in the 07/08 season?
you mean the same hornets team that took the Spurs to 7 games?
We're acting like there's a world of difference between the 2nd and 8th seeds, as far as records go. This isn't the Eastern Conference.
Yep, it's Mike Tyson (Lakers) and then a bunch of middleweight challengers (2-8 seeds). There's a substantial drop-off between 1 and 2 (whoever that is), but not much drop-off between 2-8.
umm, no. Spurs are on lakers league. that is my opinion and also the concensus between most of the sports writers/commentators. Even the guys on TNT said last night, Spurs are "right there" next to Lakers.
Yep, what kind of experience did that Hornets team have?
What does 'on lakers league' mean? As good as the Lakers? Uh, no.
okaythat is my opinion

Oh well, if Kenny and Charles say so, then I'm convinced. Congratulations on the TNT October 27th "Right There with the Lakers" trophy.Even the guys on TNT said last night, Spurs are "right there" next to Lakers.
