I posted this somewhere else, but I thought I might post this here since people are freaking out. Lets look at the pros and cons of how the Spurs played in last nights game..

    Pros:
    - 1st half defense; held Bulls to 11-41 (27%) on non-second chance pts. Jefferson, Hill, and especially Duncan looked fantastic defensively.
    -Duncan: 28 pts, 16 rebs, 3 blks, 2 asts, 2 stls on 13-19
    - Ginobili. Only 3-11 but he moved really well. 6 rebs, 4 ast, 1 stl.

    Cons:
-Rebounding, particularly defensive rebounding. Outrebounded by 8, gave away 15 off rebs.
    -3 pt shooting (4-21)
    - Tony Parker's offense (4-11 FG, 3 TOs, 3 ast, 0-1 FT)
    - Bench scoring

Its funny how all the pros are the things I worry about and all the cons are what I normally take for granted with the Spurs. The loss doesn't hurt that bad because of this; losing against a good athletic young team at the tail-end of a b2b in their home opener isn't a loss to fret about. A loss is a loss though, and I just hope we get our chemistry together sooner rather than later for the sake of our record.

Overall, this loss shows some encouraging signs. I don't think it is time to worry about what made us lose the game (the cons) until they become trends. What made us lose the game was what we usually consider our strengths, so I think we can chalk a lot of it up as an anomaly. Meanwhile, what made us good was what we worried about most, so things look encouraging going forward.

Yeah, Ginobili was moving very well. I haven't seen him move that well in more than a year. 3-point shooting really killed us because normally, we make these shots. A loss is a loss although I would have been happier if the likes of Bonner and Finley spend more time on the bench

On that particular game, Manu played much better than TP, now I wouldn't have put the Manu performance in the pros. In the pros anyway we only have Ducan performance.

I'm not so sold about our defense being staler over it more being the bulls coming out rusty for their first half of their NBA season. It's all in the eye of the beholder but from what I saw it seemed that the bulls were just having problems exacting at first but once they got that together they just got everything they wanted to do and completely ran us out of the building.

This whole b2b excuse allways bothers me. Every team has them,it's not like the Spurs just get screwed their. Wasnt that one of the reasons why the spurs needed to change some things this off season to address this? Maybe it was because its early season, but no one logged any major minutes on the first game. Perhaps my judgment is way to early but if we still have trouble with b2bs even after being able to rest our players I don't know what we can do.

The brightest positive note of the night though was definitely Timmy. He was looking great out there. He brought us back in time a couple of years.

Honestly I think TP might be hurt from the last game more then what we might be led to believe. He looked very timid out there. Hopefully it's just from soreness. I agree that Manu although struggling to get into his rhythm is looking very good out there. He looks a bit slow at times but overall he is moving well.

The pro is that everybody but Duncan was crap and the team still had every opportunity to take control of the game until midway through the 3rd against a playoff team that wasn't coming off a back-to-back.

That could easily be the worst game that the Spurs play all year. Our guys will have plenty of off nights, some will result in losses, but it will be tough to find another one where 11 guys are all playing terrible at the same time.

at least we know that rj is just not yet familiar with the system, which make him ineffective...( to suppose to shaq already doing all he can and they are still losing games)....its just a learning curve for these new guys...i believe come feb/march, rj and all other new guys will know their roles on this team and contribute the way they are suppose to.

It's an easy equation really. Despite the rebounding woes, if the Spurs shoot even 40% in the second half, they win. The boards were a definite problem, but in the end, the rock didn't go in enough.

    con's- POP !!!

thats it im tired of hoping that POP wont use finley at crucial moments / stretches / beginning of the game .. Im tired of hoping/ wanting / praying the he wont do it ..... Hes the coach, He has the final say ..... im just gonna have to wait for finley to retire but for now live with it or go root for another team ....

so from here on out im not even gonna worry about finley being in the game ill just enjoy timmy and the rest of the gang evrytime they are out there...

SPURS win or lose baby .....
