What about people who need to use dialing wands to type into the keyboard? Otherwise their fingers hit more than one key at a time.

Yeah but when she masterbates she's doing it with CF. When you spank your monkey you're just doing it with LaMarcus.

Also people constantly use the word "their" as a singular word when it's plural.
    THEIR

pronoun 1. a form of the possessive case of they used as an attributive adjective, before a noun: their home; their rights as citizens; their departure for Rome. 2. (used after an indefinite singular antecedent in place of the definite masculine form his or the definite feminine form her): Someone left their book on the table. Did everyone bring their lunch?
Sentences such as "A child will cry if I hit them", "A person is en led to their rights" and "Someone left their wallet here, they will probably return for it" are correct.

It also makes more sense than silly things like "He/She will be back for his/her things" or just referring to everyone as male or female, such as "A person carves out his destiny", "A sick cat may purr to comfort herself", and so forth.

Also, who cares about grammar. I've been trolling the internets since the 90s and can pretty much read anything as long as it is partially english. If one needs to exert so much brain power to put pauses in sentences when not indicated, then they fail at internet 101. If a second grade teacher can handle crappy grammar, then anyone here can.

When I was in school, it was, "Did everyone bring his book?" Then, the issue of gender came along and students were taught, "Did everyone bring his or her book?" Somewhere along the line, English teachers gave up!

I love grammar and vocabulary. But they are not pet peeves, I love them as an art. As far as this board goes, it doesn't bother me how people write. If this were a literary or technical/creative writing board I might feel differently. If I don't get the gist of someone's post, it's usually because of the way it was expressed and not the grammar/punctuation. Even the ones who post in wing-ding (sup, Marini) are decipherable. This is a casual place and I just imagine people are writing as if they we were all talking at a basketball game or a keg party. The people who post in perfect form I imagine being the pretentious "Frasier" and his brother types

The only one that really bugs me is the "loose/lose" debacle. On a SPORTS MESSAGE BOARD, one should know the difference.

I'm actually kinda surprised there's not a "grammar police" troll already.

Is getting increasingly atrocious in here.

I understand that a message board isn't a text book and that the format's conversational nature should both encourage and tolerate a certain sense of freedom. Casual and relaxed phrasing, as well as idiomatic word choice, can be both clever and fun to read. I get that. Which is why I have specifically avoided being a y grammar nazi within specific threads.

But, Jesus people, I can't even keep track of how often I have recently had to read and re-read a part of someone's post in order to glean any semblance of coherent thought.

Commas. Commas would go a long way toward fixing this problem. , I'd be happy with any form of punctuation, even if used incorrectly. As a rule of thumb, it is always helpful to read your post out loud -- there should be some form of punctuation inserted anywhere you pause in your reading. It is necessary to ensure that your post reads as an actual statement or question, rather than a random, unrelated collection of words thrown at the screen.

    Srsly.

and what about upper case usage? i certainly hope that is not an issue.

You "srsly" need to update the little caption under your name. "lower-case fan" is LONG overdue.

It's only an issue when you have reached the maximum number of allowable infractions. We'll let you know.
