Update Bat deal // Actualización tema murciélago

    http://www.facebook.com/note.php?not...0394525&ref=nf

Just wanted to give you guys an update on the bat situation. As many of you already know, it wasn't a great idea. Not only for the fact that bats are great part of the ecosystem, but also, because some carry rabies, which is an incurable disease. That's why I had to get vaccinated today (and it wasn't just one shot!).
Only 0.5% to 3% of the bat populations carry the disease, but If you can't find the animal, it's not recommended to take any risks, it can kill you! Since after the incident, the usher took it outside and the bat flew away (not lying!), there was no way of knowing if he was infected or not, so I had to do the safe thing.
Finally, please, don't do it at home or anywhere, avoid contact with bats, skunks, raccoons, rats and animals like that.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

    Manu Ginobili

We didn't praise him for killing the bat dumbass.

It was the fact that he took care of the situation while everyone was running scared. Manu said a million times the bat was still moving in his hands when he gave it to the usher.

bats are a great part of the ecosystem... way to back down from those PETA morons. He should have just let them howl in outrage, he doesn't owe them anything. IIRC, there's the the worlds largest concentration of bats in a cave outside of San Antonio. One tiny bat won't upset the balance of the ecosystem.

Uh, no, that's the prevention. He may have been exposed, but if you ever get full on rabies, you're dead.

I didn't know bats could carry such terrible disease. In China bat implies good fortune.

That bat may have been carrying rabies but if actually had rabies it would have been dive bombing players and going for blood....there would have been bites.

Only one person that I read about has ever survived it. I believe it was a girl several years ago. Until that point they thought it was 100% fatal.

    EDIT: here's the story http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...en-US:official

Rabies used to be called 'hydrophobia' because victims tend to develop a fear of water until the final stages. The first 'zombie' stories were supposedly inspired by victims of rabies.

I always thought that too but I was just looking it up on wikipedia and it turns out they have actually successfully treated people with full blown rabies....6 people are known to have survived rabies and there are supposedly 3 that have survived it receiving no treatment at all.

Incorrect per wikipedia whottt. You've seen Cujo and Old Yeller too many times.

According to wikipedia those violent symptoms tend to be prevalent mainly in dogs, and not that common in other animals.

yes, exactly. Manu didn't got bite, so he won't be infected. If I had touched a bat or something like that, I wouldn't do anything special and just would wash my hands, but for NBA players, extra cares would be taken.
