Hayes is one of my favorite players as he is a very good defender, he is compactly built and always playing with energy. I was impressed by his D on Gasol last year.

While in nba.com his official height is 6'6, but I suspect its reality. As an undersized center he's proved a "scrub" can turn to be a good player through hard work, but, had he or team concealed his real height to legendize him?

Just take a look at those pics:

Andrew Bynum is a 7 footer, no way Hayes is 6'6 from this pic

Joe Alexander is 6'8, they look the same size, Hayes is even a little bit taller

Yes it's not a big issue but I just don't want to legendize anybody, it is what it is. Hayes is actually 6'8(or more), then considering Kendrick Perkins is 6'9, David Lee is 6'8, you would not be so surprised to see Hayes playing center then.

He was 22 then, maybe he had grown 1 inch since then. And inaccuracy in pre-draft measurements is probable. People's height discriminates from moring to noon.

Look at those pics, if Hayes is not 6'8, Alexander will not be too, and Bynum will not be a 7 footer.

    If you say so.

NBA typically list players as taller than their actual height, not shorter. Your picture with Bynum has both players in the air and the picture with Alexander didn't post.

size isn't really a big deal though. A remarkable size like 7'6 still has failed to prevent its owner being a pussy.

On the other hand, Chuck Hayes is an iron character fighting in the forest of giants despite his shortness, which seems to fit a guard better.

Ericka still plays in the league after all, then he's still a player instead of like the cretin who's going to take 16m greens from Rockets without playing one single ing game next season. Even two pieces of s have more value than Yao does, since the 7'6 fool is only one piece.

Yes I admit size is overrated, overemphasized in basketball game, I just want to clarify a tiny issue, I don't care about Yao at all.

It's like I was listening to the broadcast in the Mavericks-Lakers game the other day, and it went something like this:

Guy 1: Here comes JJ Barea from Puerto Rico
Guy 2: He's listed as 6 feet tall
Guy 1: Really? Wow... good luck with that...

He is really smart. Morey extended his contract with little price before anyone else noticed his true value.

But to be fair, maybe he cannot contribute this much on any other team.

not all the talking in the world will prevent your dallas ponies from being a y bunch of losers. Yao is still a good impact with his personality, he is always in toyota center training and joking around having a good time. He does what he can in the situation he is in which is a lot in my opinion.

I can't see the picture with Joe Alexander either.

As for the first picture with Andrew Bynum, that picture in no way demonstrates that Chuck Hayes is taller than 6'6. He might not be, but you can't make a definitive argument based on that picture. First of all, look at the camera angle, from the floor. A person closer to the camera (Hayes) will look taller than a person further from the camera with that angle. Secondly, Bynum still looks like he has a good 3/4 of his face/head taller than Hayes, which could easily be 6 inches.

Hayes might be taller than 6'6, but none of us can make a case for it with that picture.

And, it wouldn't be that hugely surprising if he were taller. Guys like KG and Duncan and Rasheed all list heights shorter than they really are because they don't want to be "7 footers" who should be centers.

Chuck Hayes is shorter than 6'6, it's been mentioned on air quite a few times...especially during the Lakers/Rockets series.

His advantage is he has a huge wingspan for his size, almost 7 foot I believe and he's thick.
