Classic game.
There's some good ones in the modern age beat 'em ups. Can't find images or youtube vids, but there's a move in Godhand where the hero just cheap shots his target in the nuts. There's sound effects and everything. It rocks.
Then there's a game called Yakuza where you can finish off enemies by stomping straight down in the middle of their faces.
If if we're going old school then my vote goes for Mike Haggar's leaping piledriver.

That was a cool looking move but the elbow in Double Dragon was the most efficient way to beat the game...

yeah the elbow was awesome
although the knees to the face was the key to beating the hardest guy in the game (the chode with the machine gun)

Old games like this are really only good for nostalgia.
