Orlando Magic shooting guard J.J. Re will soon become the latest basketball player with his own unnamed rap group.
According to Re , he’s part of a “rap super group” that will release a new single before the end of the year led “Waste Management.”
“We’re working on a rap CD,” Re revealed. “We actually haven’t come up with a name from the group, we’re throwing around some ideas right now.”
Re listed a number of potential names for his new rap crew, including Sub-par, Afterthought and No-“Profits.”
“The chorus has been written and the first verse and the direction we’re heading on the song has to deal with ‘waste management,’” Re elaborated. “We’re not taking ourselves to seriously. We have some influences, and when you hear our sound eventually, you’ll pick up right away.”
Re said he was hoping to have the single released virally and that the track could be released before the end of 2009.
“We’re hoping the single drops before the new year, but we have a pretty full time job, so we don’t have a whole lot of time to work on a rap album right now,” Re said.
Other NBA players who have released rap albums include Ron Artest, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.

No mention of Tony's illustrious rap career?
he could be the first nba player to win an NBA le and actually sell 100 records...
It still won't sell because of how he's viewed.
If his group was actually really good, he should have taken a pen name and not repped it with his real name, and be like a ghostwriter emcee on the album. Even if it's good, there are preconcieved notions of him.
Then again, if Asher Roth can get a fanbase...
More like Eminem -1
