It looks like to me that Pop is letting the players figure out the offensive side of the game for their own. I think alot of the plays are in Parkers hands. HE needs to step up big time and be a TRUE PG.
in watching the spurs play at this point you can see that there are plenty of individuals who can score or play but as a unit they seem to be completely out of sync. it is as if they know there are other options and often defer too much. players hesitate to shoot and throw one too many passes on possessions. they seem to be unable to figure out when it is that one player is feeling it and whether or not they should go to other options.
this is a problem the spurs have not had in a while. it will take a few games to see this team start to gel but in the meantime the depth issue will be something they have to get used to. including pop.
and in the meantime i have to read all these doomsday "spurs suck" threads.

pop did say he would let parker dictate the course of the game. this is the first time that parker has to become a QB so to speak.
It takes the Spurs' regulars just as much time to adjust to the new guys as it does for the new guys to adjust to the Spurs' regulars. It'll take Tony some time to figure out his new teammates.
As for the question of "too much depth"...it's a short-term problem and a good one to have.
Too much depth to play well together consistently on both ends 4 games into the season.
Yeah it seems as if they are just waiting for someone to step up sometimes....It cant always be Parker though damnit....only time will fix the chemistry and conditioning.
I think so! Our bigs for example, TD, Dice, Bonnar, Blair, Theo, Ian....
How about TP, Manu and Hill or Mason a 3 man rotation for the 1-2 spot, RJ and Bogans or Hairston at 3, and TD, Dice, Blair and _____ for the last two positions.
Meaning we could ship Bonner, and Fin or Mason or even Hill for a quality big.
I think as a new guy, it's really easy to defer to the veterans of the system. It's very similar to getting hired at a new job. It's your first week, you don't really know anybody. , you don't even know where the fax machine is, let alone how you fit into the workflow. It's very rare that someone walks into a new job and is not only a contributing member, but is also immediately trusted by the veterans. Then, the Boss keeps calling you out during the meetings because he wants to get you involved. It's a great group of people and eventually you'll be a full-fledged member of the success machine, but nobody's inviting you to get a drink after work yet, and you still feel a little under-dressed for how professional this place is. It'll take time, and a new wardrobe, but I think our team will be alright.
Sometimes, I think we are subs uting too much. Like every two minutes, the lineup is changing. It's like we can never get into rhythm.
I don't think this is true, but I am afraid it might be.

Expecting all these new faces to gel and dominate already against teams that made minimal changes is just stupid.
no doubt. the spurs are going to be an up and down team for the first month at least. perhaps having so many home games up front may actually work out.
It would be nice to see Parker get a nice 10 asists a game...and on top of that score 15+ a game.
