You'd think he was ing Jay-z and A-Rod the way he was carrying on with them after he made a shot, not to mention the rest of the yankees and the MSG crowd.

I'm convinced now more than ever this guy is going to New York next year, he couldn't have made it any more obvious. His whole body language and demeanor changed....like he was actually happy and genuinely having fun, unlike those fake-ass team pictures they take at the beginning of the games.

Guy was showboating like it was a Globetrotters game. "See what I can give you, New York!". I cant wait until they dedicate the Macy's Day Parade to his honor and send Eli Manning and Jeter personally to recruit him July 1st. of New York.

The Cavs will not be contenders this year. LBJ is gonna walk and the Cavs should really consider that blockbuster trade that would at least not leave them standing there in the off season empty handed.

A girl can tease a guy for years and never him.

I have no idea what LeBron is going to do next year.

I will say this, though: his act gets tiresome. It really does.

    He's a great player.

    He's also a 24-karat bag, frankly.

I've never been enamored with LeBron as a person.

    I think he's an attention-whoring tool.

As a fan, personally, I like Delonte and Z way, way better than LeBron. I liked Price, Daugherty, Nance and those guys better than LeBron too.

"I've thought about playing everywhere,” James said “At one point in my life, I've thought about playing every team in the NBA."

So according to James, he has once thought about dribbling down the court for the Memphis Grizzlies.

"We'll see what happens, I've never given any indication I'll leave Cleveland or be somewhere else."

    Ummm....
    Sure, Lebron......

If he leaves, which I think he's already headed to NJ, it will not look good on his resume. They've done everything to please him. Built the practice gym next to his home. Brought in players to help him, traded Braylen Edwards. Brought in a "Yes Man" coach.
Braylon didn't get traded because of LeBron. They were looking to deal him around the time of the Draft. The thing with LeBron was just the final nail in that coffin.

As big as LeBron is, he isn't as big as the Browns. The Browns own this city, it doesn't matter how ty they are.

If LeBron is going, he should have the decency to let the Cavaliers know so they can set up a S&T. They really have catered to his every whim.

That's exactly why LeBron is not as popular in Cleveland as you might think. like that.

People here are in awe of his skills, and obviously they want him to stay here... but do they like him, by and large? Eh, I'm not so sure.

In terms of genuine affection, Joshua Cribbs is a much more popular Cleveland athlete than LeBron, for one.

Who did they bring in to help Lebron? They are treating him like Duncan and saying "you are good enough, go win...".

In this league great teams are built through the Lottery. Cleveland has had one Lottery pick since LeBron came into the league and they blew it on Luke Jackson. They would have had a Lottery pick in 2005 but Jim Paxson traded that pick for Jiri Welsch.

Ferry has done a whale of a job considering the cir stances, but he hasn't had a whole lot to work with in terms of premium picks and tradeable talent.

Best-case scenario from our standpoint is LeBron re-signing, sitting out all of next season with an injury a la David Robinson in 1996-97 and the Cavaliers losing 60 games and falling into the Lottery. Seriously.

Keep him away, please. Don't want to see his carrying on in-person whenever I go to a game. That said, that Shaq signing was a terrible idea. He's deadweight at this point in his career.

The shots he was taking at the end of the game were showboaty and selfish as . The more this guy is treated like a god, the more of an asshole he becomes. What a selfish asshole.

I think it's a fair assessment, and it's certainly one that I agree with. I wasn't aware that Cleveland fans felt the same way though. The guy is an amazing talent but his personality has always rubbed me the wrong way. But then again, that can be said about a lot of NBA players. Guys like LeBron, Kobe and Jordan aren't normal people who have ever lead normal lives. having Boatloads of money and people worshiping you from a young age doesn't exactly lend itself to humility. So we probably shouldn't be surprised when these guys turn out to be assholes.

    Whoa Joe.

"I reported this on my NBA 411 segment on "Mike and Mike in the Morning'' today: According to information gathered from multiple league executives, DeJuan Blair was 10 seconds away from joining "King James'' and "The Big Shaquisition'' in Cleveland.

On draft night 2009, Cleveland offered Denver $2 million for the 34th pick. Cavs GM Danny Ferry thought it was essentially a done deal and had fingered Blair as the pick.

But with just 10 seconds left to make its selection, Denver was offered $2.25 million, a league record for the sale of a 34th pick, from the Houston Rockets. Because there was such a small amount of time left to make the pick, the Nuggets didn't have a chance to give Cleveland the opportunity to beat Houston's offer.

So the Rockets got the pick and instructed Denver to select Sergio Llull for them. Three picks later, San Antonio took Blair.

Of course, Cleveland could have gotten Blair at 30, but it took Christian Eyenga instead."

    Blair would have been nice.
Okay, his draft record is a little spotty. I'd never even heard of the African dude they ended up picking.

Still, when you're picking at #20 and below it's pretty much a crapshoot. It's hard to ask a GM to build a championship team with low first-round picks. I can't think of one great team that was built that way, at least not off-hand.

If LeBron gets away, people are going to look back at the summer of 2004 when they let Boozer walk to Utah and wasted the 10th overall pick on Luke Jackson as the primary culprit. Those eff-ups are on the previous regime, not Danny Ferry.

Well, I'm not claiming to speak for everyone.

But I'm telling you, there are mixed feelings about LeBron here.

Keep in mind, the Cavaliers are the third team in this city, behind the Browns and the Indians. It's always been that way.

Indians fans weren't real thrilled about LeBron showing up at a Playoff game against the Yankees flashing Yankees gear.

Browns fans weren't real thrilled about LeBron hanging out with the Cowboys during the home opener in 2008.

People tend to have a low tolerance for prima-donna, look-at-me athletes around here. They like blue-collar, overachieving types, salt-of-the-earth. Guys like Bernie Kosar.

    LeBron doesn't fit that mold.

Because of the teams he roots for? That's a pretty dumb reason to not like a player. James Loney showed up to the Lakers v Houston game rooting for the Rockets and I reallllly couldn't care less. If Kobe would have come to the Dodgers game rooting for the Phillies I would've just laughed it off. Who gives a ? I just don't see how that would have any bearing on how much you like a player.

Besides at least LeBron likes tOSU. And that's all that matters.

The James has landed in New York
    By Kelly Dwyer
    Ball Don't Lie

Only in New York City could a basketball player do everything right -- shoot with range, play tough defense, find his teammates with pinpoint passes, working with a sense of flair and drama all along -- and still have it come off as slightly gauche and unseemly.

That's what the Cavaliers' win over the New York Knicks felt like on Friday. An attention-drawing exercise to its core, bent on pumping up the "will-he-or-won't-he?" question regarding LeBron James' impending 2010 free agency, and a Knick team that would dearly love to sign him with its also impending 2010 cap space.

Cleveland's win? It hardly mattered. The team did well to rebound fully from a tough loss to Chicago the night before, as coach Mike Brown seemed willing to tinker with new starting lineups (Anderson Varejao out, J.J. Hickson in), while the defense and offensive spacing improved.

The story was James, though. And, to a far lesser extent, a Knicks club that seems more and more dispirited by the day. Sure, these Knicks were never any good to begin with. But they've lost that sense of joie de vivre that marked the team's turnaround campaign last season. They've stopped running, stopped working and appear to have stopped caring.

These Knicks should be expected to provide maximum effort. They are professionals, after all, playing in front of some of the most expensive tickets in sports.

But human nature is a hard cloud to steer your way out of, especially when things are dark and gloomy amongst the haze. And with no Knick knowing if they'll be back next year -- next month, next week -- it's hard to shake the feeling that you're a piece of impermanent property, meant to be flipped and turned for profit once July of 2010 hits.

LeBron James could not care less about the hurt feelings of his opponents. He was jawing with fans, chatting with Yankees sitting courtside and shaking hands with spectators from the beginning. Smiling from the outset, enjoying the out of all the attention this spectacle brought, and destroying the Knicks from the opening tip.

With jump shots, mind you. Low-percentage looks for any player, much less James, who still is an iffy outside shooter despite very noticeable fundamental changes in the way he tosses it up.

He's so damn good that he can get away with rubbing it in during the first quarter, essentially telling the Knicks that "not only are these fans wearing my jersey and chanting my name in your house, but I'm going to destroy you with the least-effective weapon in my arsenal. My worst is still better than your best. Way better. And Jay-Z answers on the third ring every time I call. I don't even call him that much."

This isn't to slam LeBron. Even at his relative young age (24), this is all he's known for years. But he does have an ego that even this town couldn't hope to house, and if he did sign with New York this summer, it would be because James is tackier and more gauche than we once gave him credit for.

And we think he can be pretty tacky.

We also think he's the best player in the game, and it's not even close.

He totaled 33 points, seven assists, nine rebounds, three steals, a would-be block that was termed a goal-tend by the referees and seven turnovers. And though it's annoying to hear every time he pinpoints a bounce pass in the right direction, James does look for his teammates out of instinct. Not because -- in order to appease any detractors -- he feels as if he has to mix it up.

Jeff Van Gundy tried to tell us during the game that he thinks it's obvious that James already knows where he's going, that he's just being coy about his intentions. I can't see how that can be the case for any right-thinking human. And James is a right-thinking human.

The Cavs could win 70 games this season. The Cavs could peter out at .500. The Knicks could find a taker for Eddy Curry and/or Jared Jeffries, and almost completely clear their cap space. Or, as presently constructed, they could roll into the offseason with about $27 million on the books next year, probably without about $25 million in cap space, most of which James would immediately eat up, with half a roster left to fill.

Point is, James can't possibly know in November what he's doing next July. There are too many variables and -- not sure if you've noticed -- several teams with loads and loads of cap space, Cleveland included. Some of them have much more cap space. One of them is owned, in part, by Jay-Z.

And as calculating and aware of his station as James is, let's give the man some credit, and assume that he hasn't assumed anything.

All those assumptions, after all, are important him. It drives up the attention, something he just can't stop helping himself to these days.
