In all fairness to Lambert, that first one where the girl elbowed her in the solar plexus, you don't have to hit someone hard in that region to knock the breath out them and put a pretty good nerve shot on them. Incredibly painful if you get hit just right even if you basically just get tapped there. Any type of bony protrusion like an elbow or a knuckle really does the job and that first girl gave her a pretty good shot with what was probably a pretty bony elbow. I can tell by the look on her face after the first girl elbowed her there that that elbow hit some paydirt. Anytime time you hit someone in the right spot there they will get that exact same look she had on her face at first, and if you hit them well but not quite well enough they get that second look she had on her face. You hit them well enough in that spot and they will think they are going to die.
So I'm gonna say BYU started the physical girl on girl violence with that elbow shot.
Even if you consider that reason enough, that is one of a retaliation job. I mean, she didn't even bother trying to hide it.

In every case, except for the trip it looked to me like BYU was starting it with a cheap shot or tactic and those journalists were just ignoring it because she was tougher than those other girls were.
That first play that girl took a shot on her first, Lambert wasn't doing anything to her, and the shot that other girl did is a lot more painful of a shot than what Lambert gave back.
In that play where she pulls the girls hair that other girl is grabbing her first. Plus she had just pushed her pretty hard on the previous play.
In the play where they punch each other that other girl throws the first punch and then Lambert laid a beatdown on her ass for it.
The only thing she is guilty of is not disguising her shots as well as the BYU girls.
I mean she's basically getting piled on for not being deceptive, when she clearly has a message that she has a zero tolerance policy on cheap play. If you are going to cheap shot her or play dirty bs she is going to lay an asswhuppin on you and she's not going to go to a whole lot of effort to hide it.
What really annoys me is that those journalists insinuate that she was somehow responsible for the score, when she was playing probably harder than anyone in that game on either team.

I was at a gym when this was on ESPN and I just hear half the place go "Woah!". I look up and watch the remainder of the highlights and say "woah" myself when it shows the NM girl throw those punches as the other girl is falling.

When I first saw this on TV, I thought it was prolly the worst thing I'd ever seen in women's sports. But after seeing it two more times I agree with you, she got provoked and wasn't gonna take from the other team. And now she's criticized cuz she wasn't doing "acceptable" cheat shots and hiding like a scrub...she flexed on all those girls and no one stepped up.

The university gave her an indefinite ban from all soccer related activities. So you're wrong. This was unacceptable and way over the line. Rough play does not justify cheap shots and sucker punches.
She needed to be more deceptive. A teammate in HS used to take out players on a regular basis after being provoked. He broke/severely sprained several opponent's ankles during our senior year and he'd always call his shot before taking them out.
He was very good at making it look like a legitimate play on the ball, something this chica needs to learn.
But what about in the bedroom?

If you notice, it was the same two girls(including the girl who kicked the winning goal) that were both cheapshotting Lambert.
That blonde girl that elbows Lambert in the chest at the beginning is also the girl that punches her in the face later on in the game. She did both to Lambert, first.
The brunette who gets tripped, in addition to being the girl who scored the goal at the beginning of the game, pushes Lambert, then holds her, before Lambert yanks her ponytail.
A cheap shot is a shot you do not know is coming...it is not the retaliatory shot. If you take a shot one someone, you should expect something to be coming in return, and when it does, it is not a cheap shotespecially if the initiating shot was itself a cheapshot.
The fact that you think Lambert was supposed to take a cheap shot double teaming, from not 1, but 2 girls, for an entire game and consider her the cheap shot artist means your perceptions are totally skewed.
Lambert had 2 girls cheap shotting her, first, when she was not expecting it, she took them both on and kicked both their asses when they knew it was coming. She is the awesome one and it's the other two s, who incidentally flopped like mother ers and faked injury to gain sympathy in ways on girls can, that are the dirty cheapshotters.
And on that trip, at the beginning of the game the ball is kicked over Lambert's head and the brunette chick, who incidentally is also the girl who shoved and held Lambert, scored a goal on it, that same chick was breaking for the goal and Lambert IMO, obviously said you , aint no ing way you are scoring another goal after all the cheapshotting you and your team have done.
Lambert is good, fair and tough.
Those other two girls are the cheapshotting dirty players.
