Lakers - Kobe the undisputed face of the team is doing his thing, with 3 40 point games in 6 games, he will definitely be in MVP talks this early in this season, that as well as the fact they are playing well without bynum and pau, cements the fact that they are in good position to repeat.

Spurs - Unfortunately, Tim Duncan, the supposed face of the franchise has done little to elevate his team to elite status. The same can be said for the rest of the big four who have had subpar games the last 4 games.

Celtics - Their playing their brand of basketball, with none of the big four completely dominating the stat board, with a combined attack and 15+ point differential in wins, their stars are doing their jobs.

    Cleveland - Yeah...

Denver - Carmelo's really putting the team on his back this season, I think he is second in MVP, if the season were to end now.

I think the Elite has to be redefined to include:

Remove the Spurs for now. They have serious interior defense issues. Especially when Boozer looks like Wilt and then Oden/Pryz look like All Stars.

Remove the Cavs - they're only able to beat the mid-level teams right now.

    Add:
Orlando - Obviously among the elite
Suns - They're on a 60+ win pace. I don't see them stumbling. These are the fun 2006 Suns.
Mavs - They have all the talent needed to contend; are their brains working though?

    Maybe:
Heat are straight up balling, DWade having a somewhat MVP season so far. He does make his teammates better

the Cavs are having issues on offense. One game they look good, the next they look like . Looks like Hickson is starting now which should bring them back to being elite, if not the clear cut favorite to win the Championship for the next 5 years

So Cleveland is Top 5...but not Orlando?
