He owns Paul head to head, and he's shackled in a highly-structured offense in Utah. You can certainly argue Paul is better, but the margin wouldn't be much.
Paul > Williams and only one of the aforementioned dumbasses would say otherwise. Paul knows how to run a team and get results even with pieces of as the main cogs of his team
He owns Paul head to head, and he's shackled in a highly-structured offense in Utah. You can certainly argue Paul is better, but the margin wouldn't be much.
son individually he hasn't owned . their stats are neck and neck ... his TEAM has owned the Hornets. son the Hornets have always struggled with the Jazz.
totally disagreed. paul's ability to make his teammates better hasn't been factored in. the only thing williams has on him in any aspect of basketball is size
I hate when people use head-to-head matchups as an argument. That's so stupid.
Why is it stupid? It's not like the Jazz are the 86 Celtics and the Hornets are the 72 Sixers.
Well I see you have BR.
God you stupid piece of Louisiana white trash.
It's stupid because there are 78-79 other games in the season--games in which Paul outperforms Williams. Head-to-head is not an argument.
If you're the best at your position aren't you like... expected to be the best at your position in any given playoff series? dude got face ed like a by Chauncy in the infamous "121-63" series.
lol ghazi's racism is crystal clear ... its really sad.
You assume that Williams would make the Hornets worse and Paul would make the Jazz better, then? When one plays in a highly-structured offense where the coach keeps him somewhat on a leash and the other is the most important power center on his team, more powerful than the head coach, and has carte blanche to do whatever he wants? I could be persuaded that CP3 is better than Deron, but the difference is negligible.
Ah, you're just using that "Paul just dominates the ball more" excuse.
What have the Hornets ever won, besides a series over a Dallas team that was in disarray and had quit on its coach? Williams took his team to the conference finals and didn't defer to Kyle Korver in the 4th Quarter of a Game 7.
The Jazz had to face the Rockets and the Warriors. Big ing whoop.
Are you actually going to give a reason why this comparison is valid? Whenever I have this discussion on this board, people never actually talk about the player's individual skills.
son that is EXACTLY what I'm talking about with you Maverick fans. EXCUSES! ... you just basically discredited the Hornets beat down of your Mavericks by saying that "they were in disarray and quit on their coach" ....
son why is it only okay for MAVERICKS fans to use excuses? you guys are so obsessed with the Nuggets beat down on us in a game that didn't even decide the series, but whenever we mention the facts that Paul, West, Chandler, and Posey were all playing hurt it doesn't matter. its ONLY whenever the Mavericks have a bad game or choke is when the excuses count!!!
Are you illiterate? Making excuses is when you fail to give credit to the team that won the series. The 2008 Hornets were better than the 2008 Mavericks and proved it in the playoffs. What I'm saying is that beating a team that was in disarray and had quit on its coach is not that impressive in the grand scheme of things, and that's all Chris Paul has ever done beyond April 20th.
The 2007 Jazz were much better than the 2008 Mavericks.
Are you actually going to give a reason why this comparison is valid? Whenever I have this discussion on this board, people never actually talk about the player's individual skillsFirst you want to discount Deron's mastery of Paul head to head by saying it's not a valid comparison, and then when I point out Williams has done more with about the same level of talent, you want to fall back on "individual skills." Pick a lane, please.
Paul is like Mozart: he's passionate, but, he does not persuade.
that's not what you meant and you know it ... you were trying to take away from the Hornets beating the Mavericks by blaming it on the excuse that "they were in disarray and quit on their coach!" ... son how is that ANY different than me coming in here and blaming our Nuggets beat down on injuries??? its not ... the difference is that most of you Mavs fans will always have BULL , lame, and ignorant excuses whenever your team loses.
when other teams lose and their fans make excuses, they are phony
when the Mavericks lose and choke as usual and you guys make excuses, they are all 100% legit!!!
When are you actually going to compare the players?
I just said the 08 Hornets were better than the 08 Mavericks. If you want to hold that up as some sort of crowning achievement, sorry...because that Mavs team was the worst of the Dirk era.
I give full credit to the Hornets for winning that series. Unlike you, I understand that it doesn't prove jack- about Paul's "greatness."you were trying to take away from the Hornets beating the Mavericks by blaming it on the excuse that "they were in disarray and quit on their coach!" ...
son how is that ANY different than me coming in here and blaming our Nuggets beat down on injuries???Do you understand anything at all about playoff basketball? You think the Nuggets weren't "banged up" and "tired" after 82 games? Nobody is 100% in May. Losing by 58 at home is a quit job, pure and simple.
son for 15,000 post you sure are one dumb ... it blows my mind just how damn ignorant some of you are.
Great rebuttal. Concise, cogent counterpoints.
Can anybody explain to me how Paul gets propped up to Isiah's level when Chauncey Billups dropped a Hot Carl on him? Nobody ever dropped a Hot Carl on Isiah.
Look, to be quite honest, Paul is a top 10 player and no worse than 2nd-best PG in the league. But I wouldn't go any further than that. Let's hold off on "historically great" until he does something besides beat the 2008 Mavs in the playoffs.
