I shall explain this my good sir. The Spurs win a lot. They win the championship a lot. Common sense dictates the Spurs will not win a championship every year. The years the Spurs lost, the Mavs beat them mostly. The mavs never went on to win a championship, therefore the lock stock and ing barrel ownage did not live up to the stinging potential.
The way in which the Mavs got owned by GS and embarassed by MIA prevented much potential sting as well, and injected a healthy dose of Sports comedy.
Aren't the Spurs and Mavs 2-2 in the all-time playoffs series record? how is that owning a team?
