The Rockets have some of the dumbest fans on the face of the earth, you can bank on it that most of those re s are Yao fans. When things go well, it's all good, but when they go bad, they want to trade brooks, and other kinds of bull . Take this for example, Clutchfans, I posted a poll over there to see how ignorant they really were. The question was "If the Rockets had the chance to acquire Rudy Gay for the second time, should they?" and majority of those idiots replied no. Thank God fans don't run franchises, otherwise they would end up like Memphis. Disgusting!

There are a few good posters at Clutchfans, but just like in society the majority are clueless.

You can bank on it that Houston fans have been that way forever. "Choke City" and "What a bunch of losers" headlines came about years before Yao did.

I'd like to say something nice here, but you all fit that mode of being dumb so well that I'd have to agree with you.
Coming from you this is pretty funny.

I voted no, Rudy Gay is not good, despite what the masses think.

if we are taking a black hole on offense i'd rather have a much more efficient one in kevin martin (his name comes from a rumored trade with tmac that came out...not just a completely random name i am throwing out there). either way rudy gay isn't that good and i wouldn't take him for 7 mil/year like you said in that thread. gay plays no defense and i wouldn't want to blow our 2010 FA season on a guy that doesn't pass and can't play defense.

    no to gays.

I agree - he's not as good as the masses think. Very selfish player that only scores. Should the Rockets acquire him? Obviously, it depends on the price.

What is Gay impact on the floor worth of right now?
About $5 million/year in the right situation.

Factoring potential (and banking he'll fulfil it)?
    About $7 million/year.

What will he get in the FA market?
    About $9 million/year.

Don't expect Morey to be the guy overpaying for Gay. If there's one GM that is aware of the fact that Gay is overrated is exactly Morey.

    Every fanbase has this problem.
Every fanbase of every sport ever. Love is blind. I remember sitting next to a guy at a sports bar in San Antonio who was there to watch the Carolina game. He told me that I should enjoy watching David Robinson while I could because the following year Eric Montross was going to come into the league and dominate him.

exactly....if there has been 1 common thread with all the players morey has picked up it has been they are hustling, scrappy players that get the most out of their ability. rudy gay is not that. who knows maybe he would be better in a less ty situation but i don't think so. there are only 2 worthwhile players on memphis and they are gasol and mayo.

and djohn needs to clarify that he said rudy gay at around 7 mil/year

I recall reading an interview with Morey when was still with the Celtics, where he was asked what was the most common mistake GMs do and he answered something like "overpaying for players that score a lot but do it inefficiently and don't do anything else at a high level". Rudy Gay is a poster child for that kind of player.

7mil/year could be a decent price for Gay if a) you trust that he can start hustling for rebounds, put effort on the defensive side and improve his shot-selection a bit, b) you can use a scoring wing on the line-up. But I don't think the Rockets should go after him for that kind of money. They have other priorities to address; their current wing rotation should only be touched to add a legit start player, not someone like Gay.

You need a closer, just look at what happened in Dallas the other night, get off to a good start, and can't maintain it....I'm sick of this McGrady bull , of will he or won't he

Gay shot .317 from the floor last season in crunch time, while averaging more turnovers than assists and getting 5 rebounds every 48 minutes of crunch time (less than, say, Luke Ridnour). He's the anti-closer.
