"We're not going to be as predictable as we have been in the past. I know that, having played for Tim before," said West, a sixth-year veteran. "That's something I'm looking forward to, in terms of style of play."

West said that the team's philosophy wasn't working, and Scott's pride might have been a factor.

"We've had some conversations over the past couple of weeks, just trying to figure out what we could do to get the ship righted, but ... pride is a crazy thing," he said. "I think pride is a dangerous, dangerous thing. I think there was a sense a few guys weren't trusting what we had in terms of our system and our ability to know what we were going to get every single night from our system.

West said the players should be receptive to Bower and Floyd because "what we had wasn't working."

"I think the good thing is that we're 3-6, so getting back to .500 or in the right direction isn't something out of the realm of possibility."

I'm sorry, Dave. I wasn't aware that it was Byron's fault you kept missing (or not even worrying about) rotation after rotation on defense.

David West is exactly right. Scott's pride got in the way of this team improving. Its that same pride that got him ran out of New Jersey as well.

Good thing the Hornets were able to get a Finals appearance or two out of Scott before they canned him.

David west is also a big part of the problem in NO. If you're not running the plays how the are they supposed to work?

Perhaps West is right and Scott's pride was getting in the way. I wonder if pride is also the reason that West refues to assume any type of defensive responsibility. It's always easy to blame the coach, but the players need to accempt some of the blame too. Especially West.

I've got a question: Is Byron Scott's contract non-guaranteed or what?...Just kidding. Apparently he'll get paid despite his dismissal.

I wonder how much did he get paid per year? As far as I know Larry Brown gets 8M per year and Phil Jackson gets 10M.

Scott is the type of coach that can take a team full of veterans and win. He's not the type of coach that can develop young players and build them over time. He was decent at best here mainly thanks to Chris Paul falling in his lap, but he failed miserably at developing any of our younger players. Once guys like Peja, Mo Pete, Posey, etc. started to go downhill, so did he because none of our younger guys were given a fair chance to develop.

This made needs to worry about becoming more than a front running one dimensional jump shooter before he criticizes how other people do their jobs.

I'm pretty sure Scott is getting $5M per year. nice payday for a guy who's coach of the year award was won by Chris Paul.
