Is it really an attraction to the people who live in these areas? san antonio ..alamo...chicago sears tower...etc.
i doubt it.
I'm an avid reader of the website http://www.designspongeonline.com and particularly like when they do their "city guides" of different cities through out the country. When I read they recently did a city guide on San Antonio, I was pretty excited and wanted to share it with y'all.
The guide focuses on neighborhoods inside loop 410; Alamo Heights, Downtown, Monte Vista, Olmos Park and the area of Southtown (King William, Lavaca and Blue Star), which are the most charming and best reflect the city of San Antonio IMO.

i dont do anything inside the loop, especially 410.....
if your trying to get shot or ran over then these are great areas......although outstide 1604 is getting worse by the day.
You're missing like the entire city, then. Too bad for you.
I heard there is a large gay community down around King William and that area.
seen it once or twice before
Pretty cool, but some of the places to eat suck. Casa Rio? Gross.
that's a horrible generalization. infact if you look at crime data, theres more crime, property or otherwise, north of 410 when you look at per 1000 people instead of just a rough number. its more dense inside so ofcourse the numbers would be skewed a bit. what you're saying is like saying you live in LA when you live in Anaheim. you might as well live in any strip mall city and not say you live in SA.
mainly old money and artists, there is a small gay community there, but the real "gay district" in SA is really off the Main St. strip, hands down. KW is more historic and rich than anything else.
exactly. if you don't get out the loop, then you're not experiencing the city the way it should be. outside 410 for me is just a generic strip mall sprawl of a land that i wish we could just redevelop, with the exception being little india/med center.
