Everyone everywhere is upset about Belliceck going for it, and losing the game. But why is the game a big deal? They basically kicked the out of the Colts in their own stadium for 45 minutes. The Patriots will win the division regardless of whether they won last night or lost. Last night didn't really matter, and like last night showed, home field doesn't really matter either because the Pats could beat the Colts at home.

So they went for it, they lost, but does it really matter? No it doesn't because it's November.

Personally, I think a first round bye is pretty important in the AFC. After last night New England has to basically win out to have a shot at one.

I'm not worried about the Steelers or Chargers (Pats own both of those teams). The Bengals might be trouble, but really the Colts are the big threat to NE. Getting HFA over them in the playoffs was essential. The Patriots are a great bad weather team, and the Colts just aren't. Pats-Colts in Foxborough in January is a huge advantage for New England. After pissing that game away last night, there's no way it happens.

Colts win it all this year because Bill Belichick is a dumbass.

the top AFC teams are really relatively weak this year, strange to see..

Patriots' defense sucks, Colts are perennial chokers that found a way to win ONCE even though they're ALWAYS favored to win, the Bengals are a good team that doesn't have enough to win a SB this year IMO..a healthy Pittsburgh is the favorite IMO, but they're always inconsistent as ..

nobody else is a real contender, especially not San Diego..

Quit whinning you are starting to sound pathetic. If they make that play you'd be making threads calling him a genius. You make me laugh.

For years of following Belichick and the way the game went, I wasn't surprised one bit, and to be honest, I was pleased with the guts he showed. You better put the ball in your playmakers hands.

Just a question mono...why would you say Tony Dungy is a 2x SB Champion. He only won one.

Do you ing read? I said early on in this thread that the second I saw they were going for it, I thought it was a monumentally stupid decision. Whether they converted or not, that changes nothing. It was a monumentally stupid decision either way.

If my uncle had a pussy, he'd be my aunt. The fact is they didn't convert, so Belichick is a moron. Simple as that.

Mono's sig is the result of a bet with JT...
Tony Dungy IS a 2x SB champ - once as a player, once as a coach.

No you punt it and make Peyton drive down the field. You trust your defense. That 4th down play negated any of those situations.
Not a bad call at all. That was an offensive game and the Colts would have marched right down the field and scored if they punted it. the patriots get the first down they win. If they made it you would be calling it a brilliant move. It was a gamble that didn't work out.

They did not deserve to win if they could not get that first down. Maroney screwed up the victory with that goal line fumble.

You give the ball to Manning anywhere on the field you lose that game.

It was a good call. You play like a conservative pussy by punting it . You go for the win by getting those two yards. Can't do it then you deserve to lose but at least go for it.

    Patriots' defense sucks

It got tired at the end of the game because of several injuries that left them with virtually no players to sub in and out, but for three quarters it played well. In the 4th quarter 14 of Indy's 21 points were because of the stupid soft zone prevent Peyton shredded quickly, a bull pass interference call, and being left with less than 30 yards to defend. The defense by no means sucks. WAY better than it was in 2007. Hopefully this was a one time thing and BB hasn't actually lost his mind.

I'm a little pissed NE didn't go after LJ at all. Maroney sucks royally, the way the offense is right now they've got no way to close games with the run. I'll take LJ's off the field issues if it means he'll be a good downhill runner instead of run for a yard or two and then find a place to fall down like Maroney does.

Agree. That was an explosive offensive game and the patriots were not going to stop Mannning. Manning is on fire now and would have marched right down the field and scored then this jackass would be complaining on why they did not try to get the first down.

Listen to how re ed you sound. You're saying I'd be complaining that NE didn't go for it inside their own 30 yard line? For almost the entire game, NE's defense had been doing a great job. Indy had 14 points entering the 4th quarter. Before New England decided to go into their soft zone prevent D, Peyton looked horrible. You give the D a chance.

Few things I'd like to point out

    Regarding our defense:
It's true the defense brought pressure on MANNING during the first three quarters and caused some 3 and out. However, most of those were due to Indy's WRS dropping balls they normally catch 9 out of 10. Let's not overrate NE defense.
Peyton's interceptions are misleading also because one was abnormal release (a really duck) and the other was a miscommunication with WAYNE. To tell you the truth, being a pats fan I never thought during the game that our D was owning the colts offense. I was well aware that we caught many breaks. I was still nervous in case of a close game because let's face it, Peyton ain't the chocke artist he used to be. The proof was that he just marched down the field in one min without using a timeout and scored a TD. You can't give him the ball with 2+min and all his timeouts. No matter where he starts he was going to score.

Our offense on the other hand was in full control the whole game. Our playmakers are on that side of the team. When I saw Tom Brady lobby to stay on the field for that 4th down I was hoping Belichik would agree. It was our reasonnable chance of winning the game.
The playcall on the other hand is questionnable because the play called has to give you at least one more yard than you need. it's football 101.

All in all, I'm happy with the decision to go for it on 4th down once more if we ever face Manning again and the game is close, and time running out.

Wasn't that bad. He had a hall of famer throwing the ball. Plus I think it was a first down.

Sorry, didn't know you were a Pats fan. If that's your legitimate opinion then your en led to it (although I disagree). I thought you were someone who hates the Pats and was just arguing the opposite of what Pats fans thought for the of it.
