Some images from a 5-hour, Show Low Humane Society shoot...
I love this image. I'm a fan of BW photography, but cannot do it well. I love the interplay between the light and the shadow; that half of the fan, at random, is either in light with the coil providing contrasting shadow of interesting design, or that it's in entire shadow. Great shot. Liked 'em all, but love this image. Simple, yet fascinating.

My interest in photography started out as a slow burn, listening to photography podcasts, then reading up on a few photo blogs...then 3 months ago I picked up a refurbished Nikon D40. I'm hooked.

The athletic ones are great. I like the cigar image from your first batch...

ha. a bit of copyright infringement there. a nice tribute.
is this the dude from blink 182?
i don't know about copyright infringement. more like..a nice tribute, like you say.
and yeh, that's him. tom delonge.
Absolutely. It's one of those shots you want to make just to understand the trick and show off how good your camera and lens is. I love how the rays came out and how one of them is actually iluminating the ground. But otherwise a boring shot.
I already told you I was published in an n'sync forum once, so I think I can do whatever the the I want to!
The leg picture is funny, the fan one beautiful.
Was that done in camera? I'm hoping it was, but guessing it wasn't

no, it wasn't done in camera. it was done in photoshop cs4.. someday i'll learn how to do it in camera.. but till then, well, i have to use cs4.
and thank you. that was taking in Seattle - one of my friend's band (Marcos Witt).
beautiful pictures! I love the dog ones. Those photos melt the heart, which was probably your intention.
I wanted to show healthy dogs in a needing, but not desperate state, where there look made you want to reach out and pet them. Not cry, but want to take them in and love them.
Thanks for the comments...
and you succeeded! That's what I meant by making my heart melt. I want to bring them home with me!
A few from my personal collection.

Some HDR shots I've taken

Love 'em all, but 'specially that first image. Love the bench. Love the mood it sets forth. The body language is great, and, despite not seeing the females face, the viewer is totally drawn in. Very nice!
I like that yours are subtly produced - I've seen a lot of cheesy, blown out HDR pics.
I have a macro tube, and use it with my 50mm f1.8. Most of the ones I've taken look nice as thumbnails, but look "meh" at full or medium rez.

Thanks guys. There's a fine line with HDR between making it look good, and making it look completely edited. Some of the early ones I've tried were definitely the latter.
