Skinnypimp, you have no idea what you just started between koriwhat and Cry Havoc.
There is most likely a thread about this already but to tell you the truth this is the first time I've been on The Geek Zone forum. I searched a little bit but couldn't find anything.
Anyways, I just bought a Mac (still waiting on it to be delivered) because I have gone through about 4 PC's in like 6 years and they have been nothing but a headache! I always wondered why people keep defending PC's? To me they suck. But on the other hand it seems like usually only Mac owners praise the Mac computers. Can someone clear this up with Pro's and Cons on both systems please?
Preciate it!![]()

Lol! Why? I assume one is a Mac and the other a PC?
Both suck. GNU/Linux FTW
*sneaks out back door*
Calling yourself a PC or Mac is one of the more re ed concepts man has ever created.
I think if people want to use Mac, they should use Mac. I think if people want to use PC they should use PC.
I don't like this sentiment:
People defend them because they like using them. PCs don't suck. At least compared to Mac. It's just a different OS.I always wondered why people keep defending PC's? To me they suck.
When it comes to PC hardware you get what you pay for. I like that PC consumers have a choice between high end and low end hardware and everything in-between, as opposed to just over-priced and proprietary.
and i agree! well not totally but yeah if adobe would just port the apps i use to linux i wouldn't be a macOS user.
i don't hate PC's because, well, i use one. my PC just happens to be running OSX unlike most who use a flavor of winOS and or linux. it all boils down to the OS and whether or not you can get your work done most efficiently and on what platform allows you to do so, for me it's OSX.
I agree that Mac's are overpriced, however I kept getting viruses so that caused my hard drives to crash thus I had to buy new computers every couple years. If I would have just bought a Mac in the first place I would have actually saved money I think. Cause besides the price of buying new computers I had to pay for repairs and enclosures to attempt to save what was on the hard drives.
Idk if it's completely true but Mac said their computers do not get viruses, that is what sold me on them. I remember when I came back home from Iraq I had something like over 100 viruses on my HP Laptop. I paid to get it fixed then it crashed a month later...
I think it's interesting when I hear someone's computer lasts them less than two years. Really? What are you possibly doing to that poor machine? Every computer I've ever owned has lasted at least 4 years. I've had three Dells, an IBM, an Acer, and now my custom built gaming PC. 3 Dells from a company that's supposed to be maligned as a source of crap, and none of them has ever given me a major problem?
I download questionable files (cracks for games, random TV from bittorrent, movies, etc.). I game regularly which puts the system at 100% output. I use my computers ALL the time. I throw my laptops around and bring them with me on vacation. Yet all of my computers have never given me any major problems.
I really don't understand how someone can junk a PC in 2 years unless they are so careless with it that they don't realize when downloading a file called supertrojan.exe that it's going to come back to haunt them.
Either I'm really, really, unconscionably lucky or people just don't take care of their machines. It's like someone whining that a new Ford Mustang is unreliable because they drive it 30,000 miles and never change the oil.

Anyway, I don't hate Apple computers. They are great for what they're designed to do, and offer some unique advantages to PCs. They're obviously well built.
However, I also like value for my money, I like massive beasts that can split the atom, and for me that means I'm consistently buying PCs.
For instance, at Best Buy right now there is the following laptop:
http://tinyurl.com/yfqw7h2
That's a superior gaming laptop for under $1000 with a Gig of video memory. Incredible. That's the -start- price of the lowest end Mac laptop.
/idly wonders if he just took the bait.
i'll say this much... i don't run an antrivirus app on my mac and have had the computer almost a yr.
How is that even possible? Do you go to the most pervaded, disreputable websites on the net? I've never had more than 1 or 2 viruses on my computer -- at any time -- in the worst case scenarios. And they were all fixed within a few minutes of clicking and at most having to system-restart.
It's just amazing to me how people can end up with even 10 viruses. I don't get it.
i'm not going to get into it with you but you're obviously missing the point between the OS's. who the plays games on a mac anyhow?
/idly wonders if he is a complete nut about backing such a ty os like windows?
Hahaha, oh we've each posted more than once in this thread without attempting to kill each other.
guess what mr. PC.... i haven't had to deal with a single virus yet on OSX. oh but i can't play videogames, i forgot... oh wait, yeah i can if i really want to but then i'd have to install winOS on bootcamp which i will never ever in' do!
It's not going to have any of the problems that Vista had!

times up! haha
you talking about windows10 or windows7?
haha... just seeing if i can get a smirk out of ironmexican.
Wooooosh.
Lol yeah I pretty much do! I download a lot, I mean a lot, of music daily! Most of it is Torrent through Vuze but I do sometimes have to go to some questionable sites to get music I want. Like allnewhiphop.com that place has Viruses like crazy. Yeah the internet over there was generic, it's hard to explain but we had this little modem that hooked into your computer and you had to buy cards with minutes on them for a some what wireless internet. It was super slow but I wasn't complaining. I went over there thinking I wouldn't get any type of internet except for on the government computers where they block almost every site, except for Spurstalk I'm glad to say!![]()
I think people who worry about viruses are basically analogous to people who have to worry about smelling like because they can't wipe their ass properly.
I primarily use linux for my personal computing. It's not because I'm afraid of the big bad viruses. If you know what you're doing, the virus problem should pretty much be a non-factor when determining your OS.
You're right. Mac is probably better for you. Though I'm not sure how much torrenting you'll be able to get done for your musical tastes.
Even if you don't know what you're doing and just use a decent Anti-virus you'll be fine.
