Just curious if anyone has had any experience with the product (esp. since we do have a few athletes or former athletes here).

I'm looking to gain some muscle mass, so I bought some last night from GNC, powdered unflavored formula.

Not looking to get HUGE, just show a noticeable increase in size.

Well, just respect the recommended dose 5 mg/day

You can do a loading phase: lile take 20 mg/days for a few weeks, then 5mg, then cycle again.

It will make you thirsty for sure, so you will have to drink a load of water

You will also look fat t he beginning; but it's just bloating (water retention); however, not everyone gets bloated becasue of creatine

Yeah, I've done quite a bit of research before deciding it's worth a go. I run a lot so hopefully I won't pick up any weight.

It's not that big of a deal. It's not like you are just going to wake up one day and be jacked because you took creatine. It's likely that you will hardly notice any benefit at all. But it does have a benefit albeit a small one. And since it's dirt cheap it's well worth taking.

Well, my goal is to look more built and athletic by the end of the winter. I'm trying to keep my goals realistic.

you are only running though? doesn't that just make you more toned and lean instead of built or bulky?

i'm so lean as it is now that i am taking protein shakes to gain mass. i don't do any cardio except bball when i get a chance to play.

No no, I'm starting a weightlifting regimen. I have a pretty good muscle base to start with, but I want to gain mass. I'm running to counter the effects of the water retention.

As long as you lift heavy and eat enough to facilitate growth you should be well on your way to achieving that goal. Just keep in mind that you can't build a house without any bricks. So eat!

Havoc, make sure you find one the tastes decent. All the ones I tried by EAS tasted like . also made me shake uncontrollably. I hated the feeling, it was like drinking 10 redbulls. I did however lift a lot more during that period so I dont know if it was mental or it gives you more energy to get over the hump.

well Im pretty knowledgeable about creatine. I'm guessing you just got some cheap creatine monohydrate from gnc....that's fine...mix 5g after your workout each day. No need to load, it's a waste, you balance out anyways in the end. To do list for starting creatine

    1. Stay consistent with lifting....don't skip like 3/4 days, even 2 days in a row...creatine will work if you put in the time
    2. Drink water, drink more water, and even drink more water.
    3. In the end to get bigger you need to raise your calorie count...eat clean foods if you want to gain good weight
    4. Creatine will make you gain weight in your lifts and in muscle size...but if your just starting to lift I recommend you lift for at least a week or 2 or more without creatine...let your body gain without anything. Beginners lift gains usually are huge-you should figure out where your at first before creatine

Thus you can see the effects of creatine and let your body get used to lifting weights CONSISTENTLY first.

In the end creatine is a good product for people who are serious about lifting. Not like body builder serious, but serious meaning your going to lift weights at least 3 times a week-preferable 4-6. Also, you need to take creatine even on days you don't lift weights, it is a product that needs to be consistently taken. Taking a few days off of it will make it worthless. GL, it's not that big of deal, creatine is taken by pretty much every athlete just know if you want to see the effects of it your going to have to lift, eat, drink water. Thats all hope it helps

Good post except for the bolded parts. You only need to take it after a workout. And the beginner part is pretty irrelevant. You are exactly right about loading though. It's not necessary.

thats just your opinion, unless you have scientific facts and definitive studies to back up what you say, dont tell someone they are wrong.

And it's just his opinion. Do you have scientific studies to prove me wrong? The difference is, I get paid good money to give my opinions on these matters. Do you? I don't just pull stuff out of my ass simply for the sake of upping my post count.

YOU get paid! omg are you serious, wow you must know more than anyone else, only the fat indian guy that works at the gnc can compare to your knowledge.

You also didn't get my point, you told the other dude the bold part in his post was wrong, you never say in "my opinion", or something of that nature. If you get paid so much for your opinion you should know that scientific studies in field of weight/strength training are limited and many times contradictory, its funny how scientists and doctors dont really spend too much helping meatheads gain an extra pound of muscle and are instead concentrating on curing diseases. If you get paid so much then you should know that at the end of reputable articles people have "references" to help validate their opinion, something you didnt do. its not about what you said its about how you said it.

but thats just my humble opinion, i dont get paid like you, i only have a 142 iq, and am beginning work on a PhD in January.

    why not just take steroids?
    Because I value my testicles.

    they're both cheating.
How is it cheating? Cheating at what? It's endorsed by the NCAA so even if I was in college athletics it's legit.

what's with the need for immediate gratification in this country?

yeah, liposuction and lap-band procedures are legit, too, but you're still altering your appearance by unnatural means, by taking short-cuts.

No big deal, you can do it however you want, I just think people would get more out of their effort by not cutting corners.
