Ginobili out, Parker doubtful for Jazz
    Jeff McDonald

DALLAS – The injury bug has bitten the Spurs again.

Tony Parker is doubtful and Manu Ginobili is out for Thursday’s home game against the Utah Jazz.

Parker missed Wednesday night’s 99-94 overtime loss at Dallas with a sprained left ankle that has been bothering him for more than a week. Ginobili, meanwhile, hobbled off the floor 7:28 into his first start of the season with a strained left groin.

Ginobili is set to undergo further tests on the injury Thursday, and won’t play against the Jazz. The injury is unrelated to the hamstring problem that kept him out of the fourth quarter of Saturday’s loss to Oklahoma City.

Limping noticeably as he left American Airlines Center after Wednesday’s game, the 32-year-old Ginobili looked like he was either about to burst into tears or punch a wall. Coming off an injury-shortened 2008-09 campaign, he was clearly dismayed to already be dealing with nagging ailments so early in 2009-10.

    “It’s frustrating,” Ginobili said.

It’s already been an eventful season for Ginobili so far. In addition to the injuries, he made headlines for swatting a bat in the middle of an Oct. 31 game, was forced to endure a regimen of rabies vaccinations related to that incident and found out his wife was pregnant with twins – and the season is only nine games old.

Hate to say it but Manu's injuries are starting to mimic those of Sarunas Marciulionis.

Manu's accomplishments this month read like something out of TMZ: Swats a Bat, Has to Get Rabies shots, PETA Comes after him, His HEB commercials come out, He gets someone pregnant then he gets hurt....again.

looks like manu is pretty much done.... best bet is to let him rest.. play him sparingly and let RJ develop into his new role... taking more then 11 shots.......

GAWD, that sucks. I was looking forward to seeing my boy D_WILL take it to Parker. While Watching Parker go 1 on 5 with his blinders on, I can think of how nice it would be to have D_WIll a PG who lets the game come to him, Looks for his teammates first and realizes that he can score whenever he wants so why not get others going first. Parker can have his 30pts 5ast while DWIll can have his 22pts 13ast not including the ones where he just simply made the pass that got the BALL MOVING.

Well, we talked about this in the offseason. If the spurs don't want to gamble anymore, wait until he recovers from this and move him.

oh, it is not fun. When your a slasher and a vicious one like ginobili, a groin problem is worse than an ankle injury IMO.

Hate to say it but it is painfully clear this team is going nowhere without a healthy Manu.

It is also painfully clear this team would have a couple less rings without Manu, even with TP and TD playing at the top of their games.

Depending on the severity, isn't this an injury that could crop up again periodically?

Groin and hamstring injuries are some of the trickiest and worst injuries to have; Manu has both.

God forbid, if TD has to carry the team this season, the way he did versus the Mavs. He was brilliant, but it's too taxing on him.
