I sure was laughing back then. How about you?
What happened? Was it Rudy that didn't know how to use Kobe?
Just can't admit the Lakers weren't good enough?

Caron Butler and Lamar Odom are All Star caliber players.
Both these threads are dumb, Duncan and Kobe are great players and champions.
I'll accept your explanation if you tell me you think it was the coaching change. Injuries were definitely not the problem. My opinion is that team was simply not very good. However, I do think 2005 Duncan would have take them to the playoffs.
We will make the playoffs.
This thread is about Kobe and specifically his failure to lead the Lakers to the playoffs in '05. There's already plenty of Sours threads if you feel like talking about them.
So, are you going to answer? What was the reason?
When healthy Manu still has the ability to play like an all-star. Even then Parker >>> 05 Butler/Odom combined.
didn't expect that response.
He's an All Star caliber player. Relax buttercup, I don't think the Lakers failure to make the playoffs in 05 is on Kobe. Why is your pussy hurt?
I agree. But they took the bait, so might aswell troll em.
I agree. Nice troll thread. You the man.
He wasn't an all star then but he's an all star now?![]()
Spot on. buuut, isn't Andrew Bynum the next Wilt Chamberlain?![]()
I agree that Laker fan has bait stuck in his mouth.![]()
That team wasn't very good but they were still sitting at the 8th spot in the West before injury bug and coaching changes happened.
Not if he injured his shooting shoulder and the Lakers completely changed the offensive system mid-season.
Not in 2005. Definitely not right now.
No he is not.
LOL @ dogging on Odom to justify Kobe... Laker fans at their finest...![]()
Lack of talent was part of it. Unstable coaching also didn't help matters. Rudy T having to leave in the middle of the year for health reasons and Hamblin had to take over.
Kobe was out a month with an ankle injury and I believe Odom was injured as well. Lakers were very much in playoff contention despite all of that. Even though they missed the playoffs, the fact they managed to be in the playoff mix with all those issues most of the year was pretty impressive.
Yep. Another good one is when they argue Pau > Dirk, then dog his game to prop up Kobe.
Parker is good, really good but to say that he's better than Butler and Odom combined is a stretch. IMO, that 05 Laker team is simply not that good. They got Wilt Chamberlain 2.0 in the process though![]()
Notice how Odom is the 5th-6th option, coming off the bench and no Lakers fan really es about him anymore? Because that's what he is. A roleplayer.
You see roleplayers like Lamar Odom are not 2nd options. When put in the position to be a 2nd option, Odom failed miserably time and time again.
Well, Duncan did took the Spurs to the playoffs twice while being injured at least half of the season, IIRC (planar fasciitis in '06, knees last season).
The coaching change we'll probably never know. But it does look more plausible.
Odom is good enough to start for just about every team. He comes off the bench because the Laker bench is dog without him.
