We're getting outrebounded by one of the smallest teams in the league.
They also have more points in the paint. We need to clean those things up and we'll have a good shot. We also only took 3 threes... I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing...
It is a bad thing to have only shot three 3 pointers. It means that there is poor spacing on offense.

    Thoughts from the first half:

Liked the idea trying to establish Timmy early. He got enough shots to fall to open up the defense a little bit, as it looks like the Rockets are willing to send the double on the dribble.

When's the last time Tony made a teardrop?

Bonner is shooting 48% from three? Considering he started in a slump, that's pretty damn incredible. (As much as I'd like to see the Red Rocket get a couple more chucks, it's painful watching him try to guard Scola. Like ironically painful)

(Speaking of which, Luis...we get it dude. You're pissed we passed on you for like three years. You can quit putting up career games and shooting 99% against us any time now)

RJ wasn't attacking at all. The one time I remember him driving to the basket, it's like he was thinking so much about getting the foul that he blew the layup. Needs to start attacking and stop settling for jumpers dribbling backwards.

Dice's jumper is sweet. It would've been sweeter if he'd made that last one, but the putback dunk made up for it.

I think Roger Mason is officially out of his slump. Now he needs to keep it up and start becoming a gear in the rotation again.

Blair is pressing as usual, but schooled his counterpart in Landry a couple times. Hopefully he can settle down and continue to bring it in the second half.

George Hill looked sharp early. Perhaps another look at the double-point rotation in the second half?

    WTF with RJ ???????????!!!!!

It's not Tony or Timmy's fault if if doesn't produce ANYTHING on the court!!!
    He is not a rookie!!!!
    He has no excuses!!
He is the ing 2nd best paid player on the team and is among the least to produce!!!!!!!!!
    I don't get it...
I 'd rather have bruce, babricio and kurt right now...
I agree with most of what you said.

I don't want to hear about Tony and Tim having to get RJ involved. They've tried to get him involved and he keeps ing up and it's taking away from their own games trying too hard to get him involved. that. RJ is the one that needs to wake up and play aggressive. Call for the ing ball and do something out there other than stand around and collect a 15 million dollar paycheck.

I feel bad for Battier. The dude gets no minutes....
He can not help Rockets on offense anyway

He has lost his offense lately

whoever said that RJ needs the TP treatment... I would agree, if he wasn't our second biggest salary and been in the league for so long lol... he won't take well to that kind of treatment.

He just needs some plays ran for him, and have him as the go-to guy. He needs to play with the second unit unfortunately, at least for now

Some players need to in ball on their hands to produce and RJ is that type of player.
So what? yhe whole team gonna adapt to Mister Jeffersson??????

It's either the spurs's FO who was wrong to e for him or his fault ...

I mean his is SUPPOSED to be a versatil player , a good fedender (even "great" quoting Pop!!!)
I haven't seen that in him til now...

    FAIL

Blair actually was REALLY effective on Landry and made him shoot like 1-4 against him...

Bonner is a huge defensive liability.
I agree with the poster who said that Bonner makes every big in the league look like Wilt Chamberlain.
    And Bonner sucks at rebounding.

Better to have Dyess in. and Ratliff or Blair when Dyess or Timmy rests.

Bonner has 2 rebounds to his credit.
    That's it.
That's why the smart posters here say that Bonner should only be used a shooter off the bench.

Bonner's defense is one of the biggest liabilities on the team. It is even worse when he gets a lot of court time. All the other teams bigs get going.

Bonner vs. Scola can't work. And it's Pop who's gotta recognize this - not much Bonner can do about it.

RJ's lack of plays is all on Pop. Pop needs to call several plays for him.

Bonner has to be shooting AND making to justify playing for long stretches. He's doing neither tonight so far... Let's hope the Red Rocket wakes up...

Thing is: They have nobody on their team who can guard Timmy in the post. He can score at will against Scola. We need to throw the ball into Timmy and make them double team. A lot of teams that we can't do that against any more and get a double (e.g. Boston - Sheed or KG can guard Timmy one on one pretty effectively). Houston is one team that we can do that against. And Timmy has shown that he can still put points up on the board when called upon.

When they start collapsing on Timmy, then kick it out. And Tony can get in the lane and create some open shots from outside.

But first, against Houston, we should feature Tim Duncan time and again (and I know he got about 10 shots already- but against this team, that's not enough, imo).

Chuck Hayes is arguably the best 1 on 1 post defender in the NBA..

Actually Trevor Ariza is playing the exact way I wanted RJ to play for us.

Look at how aggressive Ariza is for the Rockets. RJ is supposed to be a better driver than Trevor, but this season Trevor looks a lot better than RJ at that aspect.

While Hayes is a great post defender, Houston doesn't have a shot blocker at all..it would be nice if we could get some penetration inside, especially from RJ..
