Well, I think anic was a good movie and a good story. Pot brownie? I haven't had one of those in decades.
anic was ass
those other movies rocked
it's been a looong time since i sat through the entire uneditted abyss (plus isn't there an extended version out?)
i'd have to eat a pot brownie to sit thru that these days

I don't see how you can hate James Cameron. The man made Terminator and T2. T2 is one of the best sequels of all time. It's one of the few sequels that is better than the original. And he made anic. anic is a classic. LOTR was a blockbuster and it was a great movie. Avatar is gonna kick ass during its opening weekend. What other movies are people going to see that weekend?
jag, i would bet my life that i knew terminator facts and quotes when i was 10 then you will ever know
shut the up, i think this movie will suck, were you on the crew or what? quit acting like a little girl

why attack russia
aren't they our friends now?
underneath is a hyper alloy combat chassis
=they cant make things like that yet
Not to derail my own thread, but I wish hollywood would embrace some of the better sci-fi/hi-fantasy books that are out there.... Can you imagine a well done Warhammer or Warhammer 40K movie?
how about a Well done movie about Drizzt? (Probably the most adaptable to film because of Salvatore's writing)
Can you imagine a movie about Gotrek And Felix?
Done right, they have the potential to be one of the best violent action movies of all time!
Those are RIPE for the picking if you get a good cast and crew.
Hollywood needs to start looking and book's for better movies, only if they can do them justice though.
a drizzt movie could rule
but theres so much storyline to cover
it would end up being a mismash of crap
I dont know, I think Peter Jackson could pull it off with a series of releases. It would have to be an all-time record though.... probably a 6 movie series just to tell the story up to where its at right now coming into the "Transitions" series.
It would be ing tough to decide who plays what character... Casting drizzt would be tough. there are so many out there that could play the part.
Nevermind Catti-brie, Wulfgar, Regis, Montolio Debrouchee, Artemis entreri, Bruenor, Jarlaxle, Zaknafein.... The list goes on and on....

exactly
would never happen
nowhere near as known by name as LOTR
the budget would not be enough for the project, and way too much story for the film time...it would inevitably suck.
but in a perfect worldwith a LOTR budget and director....it would pwn
Bruenor for sure would have to be the guy that played Gimli from LoTR though... No doubt in my mind.
You really need to read my posts again. I think a lot of blockbusters aren't overall great movies but have enough entertaining or interesting elements for me to think they are worth seeing.
Transformers was not one of them.
nah, they are ing iran behind our backs
fair enough
This site breaks down the plot of the movie based on the leaked soundtrack les. I think it gives a pretty good argument of why Avatar will suck.

I am actually looking forward to this movie. Somebody tell me the last James Cameron movie that was bad? Don't come with that anic , because it wasn't my type of movie, but it was still well made.
Exactly, no reason to count James cameron out. I think this movie will be better than most people think.
Then again, I like space/futuristic movies and .
I think your wrong on the bolded part. There where ALOT of people who didnt know WTF LoTR was until the movies came out.
It would be the same with a Dark Elf movie, but I think a Drizzt movie would be more action-packed and not as touchy-feely as the LoTR movies where and would draw an even bigger crowd because of that.
I could definately see them screwing it up and making a dragon-ball-esque movie that totally ruins it though.
I don't know if it will suck, but based on the previews I've seen I have a pretty good feeling we're looking at a historic box office bomb. Even if it's well-written and well acted (and based on the previews it looks to be neither), I don't think it's going to appeal to a large enough audience.
Seriously, with the ammount of money thats going into this film, there is almost no way they will make a profit off of it....
But since when do people judge a good movie based off of how much money it makes vs how much was spent on it?
Just because it might be a "box office" bomb, doesnt mean its a movie. that's whats wrong with people today, if the movie doesnt make money, it certainly must suck!
whatever happened to making a movie because it might be a good movie regardless of the profits? Thats why I like James Cameron. He doesnt give a and has the pull to do it.
Everyone es about Hollywood going for the money maker, cookie cutter movies.
Here we have an origional story line (albeit following a familiar theme) and people are ing about that as well!
This movie is not based off of some rehashed film, its not a remake, its not a homage to another movie.... yet we STILL have people ing about it!
I say Congrats to James Cameron for breaking the hollywood theme of following the money! Thats why this movie will be good! It's not some book or some , its a totally new story!
In the end, thats what movies should be all about.
But it's not a totally new story.
I, for instance, liked it when it was called Lawrence of Arabia or Mutiny on the Bounty or Little Big Man or The Mission or Dances with Wolves-- and a little less when it was called At Play in the Fields of the Lord, but I'm older now and might understand the themes better and get past he trauma of a Kathy Bates nude scene. Even less when it was called The Last Samurai; by that time I was a little tired of the routine.
Anyway, I hope Cameron's movie makes him king of the world.
Again.

Given the history I've had with Cameron's movies, I will see this movie at the Imax and in 3D. Im not into movies like that but I trust him to give me my monies worth.
Well supposedly there's supposed to be something new about his version of a 3-D movie...so I'll probably check it out at the IMAX...
Why? That can be summed up in two words: "Phantom Menace". No, James Cameron is not George Lucas, but that's the last time I can remember all this hype around a story that was written twenty years ago, shelved because the technology could not let it be made faithfully, and now about to hit theaters.
On top of that the last time that Cameron made the most expensive movie ever it was anic, which plenty of people just didn't care for. Lots more people did of course. In my experience there are two camps in anic: those who saw it in the theater and were blown away by the epic production and those who saw it on TV or DVD and don't see what all the hype is about.
Then you throw in just what all the hype has been about for this film- the technology. While that doesn't immediately preclude the film having a good story it does give plenty of people pause to consider just where the overall focus of this film was. If this is going to be a 3 hour tech demo instead of an interesting story with good characters, then I would say it wasn't a good movie.
And finally, Spurstalk does not always represent a true cross section of the market. How many bagillions did the Transformers movies make? Now compare that with the percentage of Spurstalkers who shat upon the film, or flat out refused to go see it.
Is this a joke? Alot of people may not have read the book, but damn near everybody had at least heard of LOTR before the movies came out.
