No, they didn't offer him one at all because he with Yao down, they wanted to get younger..And Morey just didn't want him back

As I said before, Ron provides the entertainment in an otherwise uneventful 65+ win season

On his feelings toward Ben Wallace, the Pistons center whose altercation with Artest touched off the melee in Detroit: "I see Ben, I'm on my guard now. I'm always in the mood to fight him. … I'll get suspended 10 games, 15 games (because) I'll just fight him right there. It won't go into the stands.
    I'd pay to watch that.
I'm a Pistons fan who doesn't hate Artest. I actually think he's a good guy at heart but is just a little off, so to speak. But, why does he is he always in the mood to fight Ben now??? Why didn't he fight Ben when Ben got in his face, pushed him in the chest, and threw a towel and a wrist band at him? Why now? He should have fought him that night. I find that quote strange. But, then again, Ron-Ron is a strange cat.

    That's why it's laughable..

Instead of fighting Ben Wallace, the guy that actually got in his face and basically challenged him, he fought a random fan that probably weighed like 130..

Artest is serious. The guy witnessed someone getting stabbed in the heart with a chair leg, for playing basketball.

I agree, it is kinda odd that Ron's feeling that way...right now. There must have been some continued bad blood with Ben Wallace since that we haven't heard about.

Or of course, Ron could be imagining an on-going tiff with Wallace...kind of like how MJ made up that sarcastic "Good game, Mike" diss to keep him motivated.

Whatever the reason, this new quote should make it real interesting when Ron visits Detroit on the 20th.

oh yeah now i remember. but basically they were going to offer a 1 yr deal just to do it and expect a rejection, but instead after the injury they didnt even bother. makes sense. they didnt want to pay him

Man I dislike this and him. What a attention whoring . Absolutely nothing good can come from saying all that he said, nothing good. I wish he would just shut his mouth and play, cause he's playing great, but that's just not going to happen.

Well, he is a nut case. But if anybody can tame him it's Phil. He seems to be working out great for LA. But you still have to be worried about his propensities, especially when the pressure is on.

Don't see why Ron would admit all that at this point. I mean he should save it for his autobiography or something.

    Artest Clarifies His Halftime Drinking
    SportingNews

You know that Artest’s now-infamous Hennessey interview wasn’t just going to vanish after one day. Today, Artest took to the airwaves to clear up what he meant. Mostly because there were some out there who felt this was just another publicity stunt meant to attract attention. Just like Auburn Hills, right?

    From ESPN Chicago:

"The whole point of it was to let people know I was not proud of how I was as a youngster, and how immature I was," Artest said. "I think the guy released the part of the story that was going to sell the newspapers.

"I think when the story comes out, it will show how I was not proud of how I was during my younger days in the NBA. But I think in order to get everybody interested in actually buying the paper, I think they just released all these power points, so to speak."

Full disclosure: "the guy" in question is SN.com, and yes, the full story is on newsstands now. Clearly, though, Artest feels his story was presented without context, thus sensationalizing it instead of getting across why he was coming forward with the drinking stuff.

But wait, he then turned around and elaborated on what direction his post-hoops career in boxing might take:

"I don’t want to fight Ben Wallace in no street. I don’t want to fight Ben Wallace on no basketball court. But after our careers are over, I will fight Ben Wallace in the boxing ring. But not out of hatred. But out of it would be a good boxing match. So don’t look forward to me fighting Ben on a basketball court, because that’s not going to happen."

So there you have it, the new Ron-Ron we must all live with. Sometimes, he’s baring his soul to keep others from going down the same dark path. Then there are times when he’ll just come up with something outrageous because that’s the kind of public figure he is. Whether it’s up to him or us to draw a distinction remains to be seen.

I'm just doing the math here...

Ron Artest came into the league at 19. He was traded to the Pacers at the age of 22. He drank while he was in Chicago. He drank on the job when he was underage. Where else in society do we laugh that off and say "Oh, that's so ing cool and gansta!"

Dude should be out of a job.

Other players, coaches, PRs and PAs, coaches, couldn't smell this on him? The cover-up is the more interesting story to me.

I don't think Artest is telling the truth, he's obviously being a media ..I'm pretty sure people in his own locker room would have had a problem with this..

    He's a fake ass liar..he's always been..

A lot of hood-sheltered New York dudes are like that..
