NBA is entertainment, not life. Some people need to recognize and check yo self. NBA is for fun. You guys who hate dancing are acting like actors like Sean Penn who think they are more important than they are. Nobody gives a about Sean Penn, his thoughts don't matter, all we ask for is for him to make good movies. We don't need him acting like he is a god and we need him.......same with the NBA, it's entertainment, nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't matter. Dancing is good for the game

I don't understand what that means, but I could be wrong on this, it's the National Basketball Association, not the National Basketball (and dancing) association.
they should do away with dance teams, pregame and in game music, halftime shows, and everything else non related to basketball....that way the NBA can be completely boring like Major League Baseball

^ Yeah, you'll be keeping this tune next year when LeBron is dancing up a storm with his new team.

I hate those things and am there for the hoops. So you're basically saying that we need dot races, loud hip hop while the game is in progress, fat guy dancers, people trying to win a Vegas vacation with a half court shot, etc? That without it the games are "boring?"

You're the guy who just said the NBA needs more mindless diversions in the in-game arena experience and without it basketball is "boring." I could just quote you without comment.

yeah I don't really care for that either but I realize that there are plenty of people who go to basketball games for reasons other than basketball. I'm cool with all of it because it makes my owner money which makes my team better. As a Mavs fan you should think along those lines as well.

There's a reason they're pregame and halftime shows, not 1st quarter and 3rd quarter shows. When someone buys tickets to a basketball game, are they buying the tickets to watch basketball, or watch the 15 minute halftime show?

I'm not egotistical and feel that the only people who go to NBA games are people who think like me.

when I was a kid I went to games because I like the mascots, the loud music and getting a mini basketball . The $20 my dad spent in 1990 isn't any different than the $20 I spend now to watch basketball only when I no longer care about a plastic ball. But both ways make the owner money and there are kids who paid the same money just to watch Lebron dance and catch mini balls and t-shirts from the dance team.

    You lose, I win

Cavs have sideshows though out the whole game. Their in game presentation is often regarded as the best in the league. One of the reasons that a small market like Cleveland sells out 100% of their games.

yea, I'm sure it was just coincidence that "best in game presentation" couldn't sell out prior to Lebron James.

the owner didn't buy the team until 2005. They didn't sell out as much during Lebron's first 2 years. Gilbert bought the team, said the in game presentation was stale and boring and now it's awesome

That little bit of pragmatism is quite a bit different from "The NBA is boring without it."

You changed your argument. You said the NBA is "boring" without the in-game entertainment. Now you're putting on your tweed jacket and filling up your smoking pipe and making a completely different argument that nobody here would disagree with. You're also bragging about how "awesome" the in-game presentation is. That's kind of weird.

I am more careful when I type and don't feel the need to backtrack. Just admit you didn't phrase it the way you wanted.

You're a Cleveland sports fan. You always lose.

Again, I'm sure the "in game presentation" is why they sell out games, Lebron having nothing to do with it. The fans would still be buying tickets to the Ricky Davis Carlos boozer Desagna Diop Cavs if they had the "win $50,000 if you make a half court shot contest," since that's the most entertaining part of a basketball game.

I'm saying that maybe you find the dancing stupid, but there is a place in the NBA for showmanship. If the players were all robots nobody would watch it, just like how nobody cared about the NBA when the ABA was around. Same thing. Pro sports are built and survive by characters, not robots. Lebron is a character

it doesn't hurt, when Dallas sucked last year they still sold out their games because Cuban made the arena the place to be.

Lebron can do whatever he wants. He is the golden child in this product, The NBA.

Golden children get special treatment in this abundantly fair leag...err product. That's the NBA

Bump a superstar guard barreling into the paint and that is an automatic foul. Dancing like a bag? That's A-OKAY That about sums up the NBA these days.

If 50+ wins and making the 2nd round is sucking then the Cavs are a really pathetic franchise.

LeBron should be more worried about winning a ring than doing poses and dancing like a fool. But I guess that's nothing to be concern about because Orlando or Boston will take care of business in the end.

50-32 and winning a playoff series is not "sucking." I don't disagree with your premise that the in-game entertainment has a marginal effect on boosting ticket sales, but the overwhelming reason the Mavs sell out is because:

    A) the team has remained in the upper echelon in the league for 9 straight years

    B) Cuban is the anti-Jerry Jones when it comes to making a Mavs game affordable for your average family. The lower bowl seats are expensive as , but a family of four or whatever can afford to sit in the cheap seats.

Winning a ring doesn't earn the right to dance like a fool. I'd have a problem with it if Kobe did it during a game. It's disrespectful to the other team. There's no need to rub it in, just take the W and move on. God knows Lebron would have taken offense if Howard started dancing around like a moron at the end of game 6 last year.
