Fellowship of the Ring was the best-paced film in the trilogy. Two Towers was one long battle scene, and Return of the King was 30 minutes too long. Fellowship had my two favorite scenes in the whole series:
1. Gandalf falling into the pit with the Balrog--in fact, that whole scene is a ing classic.
2. Boromir redeeming himself at the end of the film, saving Merry and Pippin from certain death and sacrificing himself in the process.
Van Helsing is severely underrated as a comedy classic.
oh comedy classics, timeline starring paul walker
"we have to go back in time... on the timeline"
actually any movie with paul walker is always ing hilarious, he has become one of my favorite actors
Damn straight... even though i knew those two scenes were going to happen, they still sent shivers down my spine. Serious nerd-gasm.
Agreed. The Day After Tomorrow also belongs up there.

The Gandalf-Balrog scene was the only thing worthwhile in that entire movie. We are talking movies, not the concept of the story you have in your head as a result of a book-made-movie.
The first movie was mostly boring, mostly setup, and almost totally justifies the LOTR scoff that Clerk dude does in Clerks 2. As a movie, it blew taint.
Two Towers was amazing, and ROTK was amazing.
Chief reason being: amazing battle scenes = amazing movie
The fellows being trapped in the fortress and knowing they are about to fight to the death in the Two Towers evoked more emotion ten times over than anything we felt in Fellowship.
Fellowship was a necessary movie to setup the other two. I don't see any reason I'd ever watch that one again.
i would rather wear an eminem tshirt to the kappa beach party than watch Lords of the rings
Yeah but you also were supposed to cut your off after ou beat us in 2002 and 2003
Gandalf falling battling the balrog was the beginning of the second movie. Unless you mean where in the first movie you only see the reaction of the people who tought Gandalf died.
Anyway, I love LoTR's!
Completely agree with this. FOTR did a great job of setting up the next 2 movies. Other than that it was pretty mediocre. As far as the entire story goes, the entire trilogy makes the top 10 list of this decade for sure, especially the battle at the end of two towers at helms deep. The battles in ROTK were great as well but didn't quite compare to the helms deep battle.
As far as other movies go, I've seen some pretty decent lists. I may have missed it but the only movie I've seen being neglected is Traffic. That one is easily top 10 on my list, maybe even top 5 but its close. Other than that No Country, Children of Men, The Bourne Movies and Departed have all been mentioned. Mystic River and 25th Hour have been pretty neglected too I suppose. These lists are usually alot of preference anyways so theres always gonna be some disagreement.
Oh, and Gladiator. How that wasn't included in the original list is beyond me.
This decade..........in no particular order:
25th hour
Gladiator
No Country for Old Men
Monsters Ball
Mystic River
Kill Bill Vol I & II
40 Year Old Virgin
Million Dollar Baby
There Will Be Blood
Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind

For my money though, the films made between the very late 60's thru right around '82 made up some of the best films ever made.
Could be my older ing age, but I think NOT.
Also in the late 90's the bar was raised again IMO.
p.s. Ya'll can bust me for saying this but.....The Dark Knight is extremely overrated. Without Ledger it's "The Day After Tomorrow" with Cops n Robbers....and with a still living Ledger this movies shelf life drops to about a year...maybe two.
I thought it was a been there done that average action flick that tried to squeeze 50 lbs of into a 10lb bag........ with a brilliant performance from Ledger.

I guess the lists were quoted so many times it seemed like more.i guess 2 is many...
ok sorry. I just dont see it fitting with most of the other movies on the lists... also, I can't stand that guy (bruno).Uncalled for.
However, looking at the lists some more, there are others that belong in the heap with Borat, like Pineapple Express...
Someone put Requieum and reminded me that Pi was not on here (does it qualify chronologically?).
Also, I didn't crack a smile the whole time Borat was on, it reminded me of watching any episode of SNL recently that doesn't feature justin timberlake (yes I know I am so ashamed of actually liking the guy).
I guess I am going to have to see City of God after reading this.
Lastly, I thought Crash was more of a description than a movie le.
